The artwork looks like something from Varsity Blues. Totally lame. Never got to see this in theaters, but I'll give it a rent.

It did horrible at the box office and the critics reviews were average. Might skip this one. But I haven't made up my mind.
I guess I'll give it a try since Kimberly Peirce is a good director...
I saw it. It wasn't GREAT, but it was pretty good. Good emotional scenes. What's on Ryan Phillippe's leg on the cover? It looks like a shield or something...
it's a cowboy hat on his leg.
I definitely want to see this one. I usually don't like war flicks, but this one made me want to watch it.

I don't usually like war-themed flicks either, but this looked great from the trailer. I've lost some anticipation though since I've heard disappointing things from others. I'll still definitely rent it though.
what's going on with channing's neck ? weird effect but cool cover overall. i'll pick it up.
I went into this flick not expecting anything too great. However, I feel it was a very, very good film. It really hits some nerves.
Pretty solid film, wouldn't buy it but its a good rental. Not good replay value but worth seeing once. I like that it doesn't beat us over the head with its message
Good, but not great. I thought Phillipe's southern accent was a little cringe-worthy at times and there wasn't enough Levitt, but overall, it was well made. The acting from the supporting cast is superb and it gets it's message out without beating you over the head with it.
This is difficult to watch but it's better than all the other recent war movies. In the Valley of Elah was okay. I think Stop-Loss would've been better if it were longer because it's really all over the place.
I'm also excited to see Generation Kill this summer on HBO because the book is extreme!

I'd say to y'all, "I told you so." But then again, I'd hate to repeat myself.

I'm getting this. It looked like a stellar drama, but it was only in theatres for all of two days.
Lincoln6Echo, it doesn't take a genius to tell whether a military film is going to be a success if you've been on this planet for the last few years. They flop. But this one happens to be very good.
Then again your name comes from a Michael Bay movie so...

I had the misfortune of being dragged to see this by my peacenik girlfriend. Even she hated it.
horrible cover art, but I know a couple of friends who want to see this.
As a fan of most of the people in the movie I can honestly say that it was easily one of the worst movies I've ever sat through. The accents, the acting, the directing, the writing it was all allover the place and horrible. I'd always though Ryan Phillippe was a good under utilized actor however after this, I figured out why he doesn't do much. Between him and Abie Cornish there were times where I couldn't understand a word coming out of their mouths. However Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordan Levitt acted circles around everyone. Having their roles expanded really would have helped the film, instead they were shoved into unneccessary subplots that were wasted. It really is amazing to watch Boy's Don't Cry and this and for the life of me can't believe they are fromt he same person.
ShaiBrooklyn, if this was easily one of the worst movies you've ever sat through, then you must not watch too many. It's not a great film by any stretch. But it's not terrible. It is average at best and worth a rental. The director is not very seasoned. But she has some good ideas. And her heart is in the right place.
Actually I normally go to the movies about 3 times a week and watch just about anything. I found it in parts to be unbearable. We saw it opening day and everyone leaving the theater had the same WTF did I just sit through conversation as they walked by. The problem is the topic is a really good story or it could be but it's so cluttered by useless storylines and wasted characters to the point that it's insanely cliche and predictable. As soon as you meet JGL's character you know exactly what's going to happen to him. But hey, I've been torn apart for my opinion of the film before so yah!
