I never was able to see this in theaters. Will pick it up for sure when it hits DVD. I heard its pretty good.
this flick was amazing... i wasnt expecting much when i saw it in theaters, but damn it was good. Could have been a huge summer blockbuster if it had been marketed properly
I drove 45 minutes out of my way to see this film
and it was TOTALLY worth it. Seriously one of the most beautiful sci-fi films I have ever seen.

good to read some postive comments about this film. I enjoyed it heaps too. So many people go to sci-fi movies and then complain about them when they leave, talking about 'reality' and science-'fact'. Nothing beats a good sci-fi thriller.
I heard it was made with a fairly low budget. Is that true? From the looks of the trailer it looks amazing.
Can't wait to see this movie, I kick my self in the ass everyday for not using my media passes I had to see this movie in theaters! ARGH!
That boxart is terrible. What is this? The Core 2? I mean I found the movie to be very over-rated (many people think it's the second coming of SciFi...) but it's better than this cover would suggest.
One of my absolute favorites of the year. Definite purchase for me. To bad the artwork sucks.
That's funny...a thread about this film popped up on the TrekBBS and the reviews were quite negative.
well good luck space walking a few thousand miles from the sun with no suits on guys.
i'll just be over here. surviving.

I liked it enough to purchase for a second viewing.
Good movie, I was lucky enough to catch it in theaters while on vacation in Florida cause it wasn't released anywhere near where I live, definately will pick this up
amazing film!!! pathetic cover art!
I like the art, one of my fav this year - will definitely pick up the Blu-Ray
Same lousy cover from the R2 release, which also had a second commentary track and both trailers. I mean, they're there, they're paid for, the studio owns them... why not put them on the US release as well?
Amazing film, best visuals I've ever seen. A definite buy, even though the cover is a bit lame.

Trekkies man, they are not to be trusted.

The film was terrific up until the third act. The ending is great, but the whole third act leaves a bad taste in my mouth:
Spoiler The third act is essentially the plot of Event Horizon. Some wacky looking guy stalks the characters and takes them out one by one while talking about God and how he sees the big picture. Then Cillian Murphy blows the f**k out of the ship-the end.
Oh yeah, and Chris Evans is totally my new favourite actor EVER, after being terrific in this movie, and being, er, fantastic in FF2.

this movie was "ehhh" kinda like the movie "bug" to me. I call it an "ehh" movie.
Sunshine = eh
Bug = eh
Not good movies, but not bad movies....but not necessarily "ok" either. It's just there, worth seeing but not worth buying.

I never liked the regular coverart, but I found a great alternative in the Region 3 (Thailand) slim digipack version...
Looks so much better even if it just a slim digi IMO.

The Blu-ray release will also feature picture-in-picture features during the film, and those features will be accessible apart from the film as well.
The HK cover is the same. The difference is that the HK R3 has DTS!!
This movie was visually spectacular, but I'm not sure it's gonna be as good on the small screen.
The first two acts were really well crafted, but it sorta veered towards standard action territory in the final act.

WOW, I missed this at the theater, however sound sliek this should be a blind buy for me. Looking forward.
I loved this movie!!! About time they announced this disc ... considering how quickly most other films make it to retail.
I picked up the HK VCD while I was in Asia this summer. I was surprised the DVD and VCD were realeased in Asia so early. Solid movie.
OK art; underrated(though flawed) movie.
AWESOME MOVIE< the 3rd act isn't jarring after a few veiwings, I've had the UK release since July. GREAT FLICK!!! love it.
Some people love, some people hate it, just like any movie, just like the fountain, which I found to be 2 hours of what the hell is going on.
This movie had a 20 million dollar budget, so awesome for that kind of money

The third act really grew on me. At first I was like "hmm im not sure i liked that", but really, what direction could it have gone in if it didn't veer down that path? Would've been kinda boring, I'll take a cheap thrill over that.

Quote: CENTURY CITY, Calif. – In the year 2057, the sun is dying and mankind with it . . . but even the coldest reaches of space burn with the heat of humanity’s will to survive in the thrilling sci-fi adventure Sunshine, launching onto DVD and Blu-Ray Disc (BD) January 8 from Fox Home Entertainment. “One of the brightest science-fiction forays ever realized on film” (Chicago Tribune), Sunshine follows a daring crew of eight men and women as they boldly fight against the inevitable by striving for the impossible: to deliver a device into the heart of the sun in an attempt to breathe new life into the star. Helmed by visionary director Danny Boyle (28 Days Later, The Beach), who injects the genre with a shot of adrenaline and human pathos by exploring both the depths of space and the heights of heroism, Sunshine has been hailed as “a thinking person’s thriller” (EntertainmentWeekly.com). Fighting against all odds for the survival of the human race is an all-star cast that includes Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Red Eye), Chris Evans (Fantastic Four), Michelle Yeoh (Babylon A.D., Memoirs Of A Geisha) and Rose Byrne (28 Weeks Later, Troy). But when the crew stumbles across a distress beacon from a spaceship lost years before, their journey into the unknown becomes even more harrowing…and their reach for the supreme star grows all the more perilous. The Sunshine DVD features deleted scenes, director commentary, web production diaries and two short films and is available for the suggested retail price of $29.98 U.S./$43.48 Canada. Sunshine will also be available day-and-date in high-def format on Blu-ray Disc (BD) priced at $39.98 U.S. / $49.98 Canada. Prebook is December 12, 2007.
