If this is what happens when people make original movies instead of remaking the same junk over and over.......the end is near.
I have a a friend who whose company worked on the opening titles animation
Its showings in the Buffalo area kept getting delayed until it showed for 1 week at a small indie theatre with no fanfare whatsoever (it wasn't even listed on the marquee outside....you had to know that it was playing to go see it). I am kinda worried, though, as the article lists it as a "R-rated" movie but it was released in theatres unrated. I hope that this doesn't mean that it gets edited down for home release. It was a decent movie but not anywhere near as funny as the trailer made it out to be...actually it was quite depressing

Well for starters, Mark Millar was writing Kick-Ass at the same time that James Gunn was writing Super. Mark Millar will be the first to admit that, and he likes Super.
And if you've actually seen Super, you would know that aside from the premise of a normal person trying to be a superhero, it is nothing like Kick-Ass.

I would've liked to see a better critical reception too, but this movie is filled with the kind of deranged mean-spirited humor that a lot of those older critics will never like.
I thought this was a lot of fun. Great dark sense of humor.

I wanted to see "Super" so bad when it come on VOD, but then I gradually lost interest. This is a rental at best. Love the director's resume, love the people involved, but I'm not too thrilled about the critical reception.
Thanks for the info. I will be getting this at Best Buy.
Perhaps twice, and selling the Blu-Ray copy.
