I am with you there,
the opening titles just made the film for me, took me back to when i was a kid,
it's a shame everything went downhill after the opening titles...

I respect your opinion and the opinion of everyone else who didn't enjoy the film, but I loved it. The sequence with the jet, the bit where he saves the sinking ship, the moments where he struggles with his loneliness... these and loads more made it the best blockbuster of the summer for me.

This movie is a terrible borefest. I couldn't wait for it to end. Not nearly enough action, and waaay too much pine-ing by Kal-El. It was like a bad Smallville episode. And Spacey was lame as Luthor.
Superman Returns
Hopefully they will incorporate the Braniac Character in the next film. I admit the film was overraught with emotion laden nostalgia and was a little long winded, but I enjoyed it...and yeah...I thought Spacey gave a performance that screamed I dont give a s**t
hey, Europe get PCM.
It was a good re-introduction to a character people had largely forgotten about though. Apparently the sequel in 2009 is due to have a lot more action now they've reintroduced the characters.
All this "waa waa not enough action" The original Reeve movie has even less action and no one complained back then. You dirty pokemong nintendo loving action hippies should hush up
This movie did just enough to get new blood pumping into the franchise...I must admit I like SIV:the Quest for Peace more than others [people], specially considering SIII was pure c**p, a shameful episode in Supes history.....
Still waiting for the double dip!

Sorry homegirl. We have different expectations for action movies here in the states. You can't hype up a project for a year and a half about "Superman's big comback", a huge $250 mil budget, and all the technical effects and CGI that are going in, then drop a turd like that and expect everyone to swallow it. Donner's original actually made sense, and it was just that "original". Singer used that same damn story, added some emo crybaby bulls**t, and probably stole $100 million dollars from the production budget. Tell me where the money went? Cuz that s**t didn't cost $250 mil.
It is a shame that we still don't appreciate the time and effort people put on movies; from the CG to the set design, costume, where do you think that money went? Have you seen the documentaries and how big the sets were? How the epical scale was?

Don't forget that some of that was spent buy Warner Brothers on pre-production of the aborted versions.

When I look at these with woo-hoo 5.1 PCM sund I always wonder what happened to moving forwward with at least 7.1 sound.....

I read somewhere that Kevin Smith funded his Clerk's animated show with the money he got for his version of the re-start. So many trips to the drawing board and that is what finally gets made. Another reason to be disappointed.

Bryan Singer's superhero films are always so pretentious... I quietly loathe everything he made after the first "X-Men" film.
