Oh wow. But it's so expensive...
I committed hard core to only buying "Superman II", "Superman II - The Donner Cut" and "Superman Returns"... THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING! I already own "Look, Up In The Sky" too, but who cares! This is the best Box set I have ever seen produced.
My only complaint (and it's a BIG one) is that "Superman III" is not having it's picture cleaned up and remastered, nor it's sound remixed into 5.1 Dolby Digital. That is bad, very bad. "Superman III" is loved by the fans, and was VERY financially successful for WB. So why the slight? We all understand why they are not doing anything for "Superman IV" (does ANYONE like that film?) But to slight "Superman III" like this, tarnishes this whole box set, and does not make it 'complete' the way the fans want.
I am all ready to hear people say "They finally announce the box set, and people are STILL not happy!" There is no excuse or reason for not remastering the video and audio for the third film. It is just not acceptable. we might as well hold onto the 2001 release and get the ones we need individually then... If they do the box set the way fans want it, we will buy it regardless of the price. At least that is my stance. I prefer the box over the individual DVD's - if done right!

Expensive? In terms of DVD pricing, this is a steal. Ordinarily you'd spend $20 each on the DVD's seperately, maybe a few bucks cheaper at places like Best Buy on the first week. So, 6 movies would run you the route of $120. Take into the account that the SRP is $99.92, you can expect that Best Buy will be able to afford to sell it for much cheaper. $80 tops at Best Buy.

i just fudgem'd my pants....
OH... MY... GOD!!! THIS IS SUCH A SWEET SET! I`ll be all over this. Can`t wait for the 28th of November :D :D
wow. that is a great collectors box. why weren't the DVD cases this good? I think that is a fair price too, for what you are getting. as stated before, many single DVD's alone are around 20 bucks. so this is a steal. I still think the actual DVD covers were pretty stale and unimaginative, but this full collectors box was spot on. I will have to think about this one.

OK, but I'm not that spree-happy with DVDs. Should make a great Christmas present if announced for R2.

This is a very cool set, but there will be more new Bryan Singer sequels in the near future. One day there will be a monstrous set released...but people probably can't wait that long.
EGAD!!
Oh my god!!!! This is set for me!!!! I am so happy..... freaking awesome artwork!!!
I was going to buy my brother the Christopher Reeve's 8-disc set for Christmas. But, hey, screw that. Now that there's this 14 disc collection with all the Superman movies, I'm buying him this one. He bought part 1 and 2 individually when they got on the Wal-Mart shelves when Superman Returns came to theaters. But, he'll still like this set even if it has those two in it. I might even feel generous and buy the Supergirl dvd to go with it for him. Heck, I might even have to buy me this set as well. Can't wait.
I can't stop drooling over this set. Does anyone know how much this thing will retail for?

I have found them to be pretty reliable when they post the Suggested Retail Price. My bet is that this set can be had for 80 bucks, that is if they don;t raise thr price.

yes
yes
looks like a perfect set and along with the Supergirl, 2 disc set from Anchor bay will round it off nicely, too bad they didn't include all the Fleischer cartoons just nine out of seventeen
oh and for region 4 people I know there is the same set in a tin lacking one documentry so a total of 13 discs in Australia saw it at Ezy canceled that order to get this region 1

This will be a day long remembered. This set changes my November buying priorities around.
Does anyone know the difference between the region 1 and 4 releases of this box set region 4 only contains 13 discs while region 1 contains 14. I think the region 4 misses out on Bryan Singer’s video journals but just want to make sure.

I was wondering the same thing- -
Cus from what I can tell, Region 4 will lack the Bryan Singer Journals, but have documentaries that the Region 1 will sorely be missing =P AKA: "The Mythology of Superman", "The Science of Superman" and "Remembering Christopher Reeve".
Fortunately, my copy of "Look up in the sky!" was purchased @ Futureshop which made it a 2 disc limited edition that contained a 2nd disc with all of Bryan's Journals anyways.
So I'm sorta leaning more towards the Region 4 edition- -...Especially since the art work for it also seems to be more Christopher Reeves oriented than the Region 1.

That box is awesome. I really, really want this.
Maybe this is why Warner did such a despicable job with the individual movie releases, just so that we'd buy this awesome set.

They did indeed include them all. The final 8 done under "Famous Studios" are on the Second "Superman II" disk, along with a brand new documentary about the making of all 17! :-D

So so horny
hi guys. hope ur all well. Long time viewer, first time poster. I was wondering if the films in this Ultimate collection will have RCE on them?? When I searched on playusa it lists the previous versions as having RCE (S:TM Spec Ed and Superman II). I am seriously interested in importing this collection but I would like to be sure that its safe to do so. Any help or info on this would be great. Thanks very much.
I can't help myself.... I just have to gush over this set again...
I saw Superman Returns for the 8th time today, I still can't see why it's so bashed...

If that's the case, I may go for the R4 release as well (if it's not too much more). I have the 2-disc LE that I got from Best Buy so I already have the video diaries.
Edit: Nevermind, looked at the price at Ezydvd and that alone is $180US, I know it'll be cheaper elsewhere, but I doubt by much. I think I'll just pay the $70-80 at Best Buy...
