Quote: Following his acclaimed debut, Shotgun Stories, writer/director Jeff Nichols reteams with actor Michael Shannon to create a haunting tale that will creep under your skin and expose your darkest fears. Curtis LaForche lives in a small town in Ohio with his wife, Samantha, and daughter, Hannah, a six-year-old deaf girl. When Curtis begins to have terrifying dreams, he keeps the visions to himself, channeling his anxiety into obsessively building a storm shelter in his backyard. His seemingly inexplicable behavior concerns and confounds those closest to him, but the resulting strain on his marriage and tension within his community can’t compare with Curtis’s privately held fear of what his dreams may truly signify. Take Shelter features fully realized characters crumbling under the weight of real-life problems. Using tone and atmosphere to chilling effect, Nichols crafts a powerful psychological thriller that is a disturbing tale for our times.

One of my favorites this year. Does a great job of creating that guttural feeling of dread, and Shannon is frighteningly good. They need to announce a blu-ray soon.

Can't wait to see this. I was so frustrated that my local theater didn't pick it up when they pick up all sorts of artsy, under the radar indie films.
Van Alden is good in whatever movie he appears in
Umm, where's the Blu-ray? Really want to see this.
I emailed Sony Pictures Classics about whether or not this will be released on Blu-ray, and they said that "this will definitely be released on Blu-Ray as well as DVD. No date has been announced yet though."

Strange that they have not unveiled the Blu-ray release...even more strange that they are not releasing it exclusively as a BR/DVD combo, as many SPC releases have been lately...and that cover art just does not appeal to me at all; they should have stuck with the theatrical poster.
Nonetheless, it is my favorite of 2011, by far. If they do not release the BR the same day as the DVD, I will not hesitate to pick up the latter to tide me over until the former is out.
For anyone interested, you can read my review of the film here: http://filmint.nu/?p=3552
