Quote: A generation began in his backyard…From Academy Award®-winning director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain) comes Taking Woodstock, the comedy inspired by the true story of Elliot Tiber (Demetri Martin) and his family, who inadvertently played a pivotal role in making the famed Woodstock Music and Arts Festival into the happening that it was. When Elliot hears that a neighboring town has pulled the permit on a hippie music festival, he calls the producers thinking he could drum up some much-needed business for his parent’s run-down motel. Three weeks later, half a million people are on their way to his neighbor’s farm in White Lake, New York and Elliot finds himself swept up in a generation-defining experience that would change his life–and American culture–forever.

Thank God I snuck into this one. One of the worst movies I saw in theatres this year - and Demetri Martin should NOT be in front of a camera ever again.
It really bombed. Well I guess relasing on the same day as The Final Destination and H2 (Which really sucked) wasnt the brightest of ideas.

Same here. I'm hoping the DVD and/or Blu-ray at least include what was cut out of the original version shown at Cannes.

Actually there are quite a few people out there that care about Woodstock. It may have been 40 years but it is still being referred to.

I thought this movie was pretty good! I hope they release a better DVD version of this, maybe uncut and with more extras, but I might snatch this after a while.
I saw this movie here in Woodstock with Ang Lee, James Shamus and Michael Lang in the audience. It’s a small movie from the perspective of Elliot Tiber, a minor player in the overall saga of Woodstock but definitely worth seeing.

Kinda wanted to see this.
Horrible movie.
Boring huh? I heard BAD stuff but never that it was boring. It never looked interesting to me, but PART of me(a small part) was close to seeing it, but i just couldnt bring myself to do it.
More like TANKING WOODSTOCK. This movie sucked. Nearly put me to sleep.
It looks really good, and I was really excited about it except a friend saw a different version at Cannes and this version cut out a lot of stuff. I was hoping they'd release an "Unrated" cut on DVD so I could see the version that played there. I'll still watch this, but am really disappointed there's no alternate cut.
This didn't look that interesting. Saw preview for it with "Bruno" and "The Proposal." Not my cup of tea. PASS!

Terribly boring. Not worth your time.
Heard it sucked, pass.

This movie really reminded me of a made-for-tv flick. Which is too bad considering all the talent behind it.
Tanked at the Box office? You got it! Hopefully it turns out to do better business on DVD/Blu-ray.
Hope they stick with this artwork cause it's the poster (which is awesome). Wish there would be more special features though.
