I like the original art for The Seventh Seal better.

it isn't bad as these things go. sounds like it was recorded in the 60's by American actors, so it doesn't have that really cheesy "trailer man" kind of effect, it's very analogue sounding too which helps.

No Master Audio, just Dolby 2.0 Mono.
At first Old Boy looks ace until you realise the USA BD is getting a second disc of extras:

What? So does Seventh Seal have DTS-HD MA or DD2.0 Mono? DD2.0 Mono is really all the film needs. I suppose DTS-HD MA Mono would be perfect but really it's overkill.

DTS Master Audio on The Seventh Seal, lol? No wonder they changed the coverart.
Maybe, they are the same art used for the DVD releases.
Seventh Seal and Oldboy.....great films, but does anyone else feel the covers are way too jammed with quotes and text that draw away from the title and art?
The Seventh Seal is a fantastic film.RIP Ingmar Bergman.
Great to see Oldboy but that cover implies we're going to get the original 2 disc SE extras NOT the set from the UK Trilogy box set or USA Tin LE. Am I correct?
There are no PAL/NTSC issues on HD (as neither use either format) however as well as the issue Henry raises some HD-DVDs have been converted from PAL masters (such as the French Studio Canal titles like Mulholland Drive) and considering Tartan's love of NTSC masters a similar issue could still exist on their BD releases (not that this would prevent anyone from playing them).
Great news though. I suspect it's got a lot more to do with BD having a much wider software (i.e - film studios) and hardware following than HD-DVD, than anything the PS3 has done. I doubt many people are buying the PS3 for film watching, or not at least primarily.
Great to see the AV spec for Oldboy is right but why so limited extras? Tartan have hours in their vaults. I'd still buy it though.

What titles have you seen that are 1080p/24fps then?

it doesn't have to be the same issue any more, and in most cases it won't be as most companies on both sides of the Atlantic are opting for 1080p24 transfers.
Besides, i believe most HD screens nowadays can cope with both 50hz and 60hz. so playback shouldn't be a problem

Great art for The Seventh Seal.
They are region free, Tartan confirmed it earlier.
Seems Blu-ray is kicking arse in this war.
Is it the PS3 factor?
Is it the PS3 factor?
Apparently all BD releases from Tartan will include the DVD in the package, so people can start building their collections for the future!
these three Tartan releases are all region free
No, BD has region coding, HD DVD is region free. However, most of the BD titles I've seen (the ones from Sony) are coded for all three regions. Don't know if that's the case with Tartan though.
Bergman on Blu-ray! Who would've thunk. Might just import that. Wait, Blu-rays are region free, right? If I buy this release of it then I could play it on my PS3 here in the states, yes?
