Direct to video. This never came out. I am not surprised one bit.
This looks like it could be good for some unintentional laughs. Might give it a rent.
Movies like this can become lame VERY easily. A good reason to rent, for some laughs.

It was supposed to get a wide theatrical release.

Saw this on dvd last summer sometime.. It took THIS long to get a U.S. dvd release date?? Damn... You'd think they were holding out for atleast a limited theatrical engagement state side the way the held on to this.
Not a worthy adaption. Certainly amongst many other video game to movie travesties that has failed us in the past. Skip it if you can. Watch Mortal Kombat web series on youtube instead... Atleast it's free. lol ;p

Jin Kazama Of Tekken Video Game Is Much Handsome And Stylish Then This Actor Who Plays Him In This Film,Jin Kazama Of Video Game Is Far Better And Much Dashing
Cover art is HORRIBLE.
I imported this on blu-ray from WB Japan for my own morbid curiosity, It's very flawed, but entertaining, just brainless fun. The hardcore fanboys don't get that the game's story is too goofy and complex to make both a faithful and decent live action film, but this one is just fine, it just needed a rewrite and a slightly bigger budget.
It's really not bad for what it's worth. Jon Foo does a hell of a job, too bad this got screwed over by it's production company, Crystal Sky, I would have liked to see him in more US productions, he's not too bad. Just needs to work on the accent.

Agree with you 100%. This was pretty decent for what it was. Foo's performance was really good. Only thing I didn't like about the movie was, I thought the chick who played Christie Montiero didn't look Brazilian enough (she didn't have enough booty). I'll probably pick this up...

Kelly Overton was cute though.

I didn't think it was that bad either. It's obviously a very low-budget film with C-list actors, but for what it is it's not bad at all. One of the main flaws was not to incorporate the fighters actual styles from the video games, it just looks like "normal" martial arts. Everything else was more than decent, way better than the Mortal Kombat c**p on Youtube now, and way better than the Street Fighter films. You might actually not hate it if you like the games.
And btw, the chick who played Monteiro was smoking HOOOT. Nice shot of her ass too gentlemen
Artwork isn't that bad except for the ugly curved title.

The fight scenes in this movie sucked - Pretty shocked actually given it was directed by the guy who made Rapid Fire & Marked for Death. Someone please bring back the 90's, I can't cope with all this strobe editing.
Gary (Fist of the North Star) Daniels & Cary-Hiroyuki (Showdown in Little Tokyo) Tagowa are both wasted.
Artwork sucks too - The UK rental version was a bit better and featured the original game font used in the title (or at least similar)
