well least anyone who owns the HD-DVD version can rest easy, they wont have to rebuy since they both have nothing.

Except for the German HD-DVD all the T2 discs have either had no more or less extras. The £19.99 is just an RRP, it will never go for that.
What badly needs a re-release are the woeful USA T2 and R1 BDs, especially T1.
Any word on the audio Chris? I cannot believe it's just DD5.1.

If there was any word I'd have included it in the news item. All the press releases state '5.1' for the audio, which is about as much use as a chocolate teapot. 5.1 what? Dolby, DTS, TrueHD, DTS-HD? They don't define the video specs either, but they're easy to guess. Optimum generally have more info closer to the release dates.
Is this the Special Edition or Theatrical version?
Again, if I knew I'd have said. It's likely to be a similar to the European HD DVD though, so whatever cut that is.
All the European HD-DVDs have been the Special Edition and only the USA BD is the Theatrical Cut.
Thanks anyway, on the audio front.

Awwww c**p!! I was hoping for a decent BD release. Not getting rid of the HD DVD for a commentary. Now if the transfer's stellar, that'll be a different matter.
I'll stick with my standard ultimate edition for now...
Oh no, I didn't realise the T2 USA Blu Ray was the theatrical version - I just purchased a copy from ebay (grrrr!). I wanted the extended version.
You maybe able to cancel it, if you e-mail them.
There is no Special Edition on Blu-ray yet I'm afraid, likewise there is no Theatrical Cut on HD-DVD.
Here are two reviews confirming it's the Theatrical Cut:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/23209/terminator...
http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/22652/terminator...
On the upside the Picture Quality is supposed to be pretty good, if not as good as the HD-DVDs.

dammit dammit dammit - one of the few movies I would consider the double dip for BD - unless they do the full 7.1 then I think I will still watch my old ultimate edition
Extras are gone, but the audio format and region coding have been confirmed.
It's 'a Cameron' so if history is any indicator it'll be a while before he gets round to overseeing a new HD version of the Extended version given his workload at the moment.

True Lies (bare bones release-no Spec Ed).
Titanic (took about 7-8 years into the DVD format to get a Special Ed).
The Abyss (still waiting on an uncut anamorphic DVD never mind an uncut BD here in UK.
For T2, Total Recall and Rambo's 1-3, Optimum seem to be the distributors to approach with caution at present as they appear to be putting in minimum effort and expense to exploit the fact that people will buy these titles. And people will.
As always, vote with your wallets people and wait. In the fledgling months of a worlwide recession, now is the perfect time to not throw your money away.

So I'm expected to trade in my extra filled T2 Ultimate Edition Dvd for a barebone Blu-Ray??
Why the hell aren't they using all this extra space these discs are supposed to have.

Wow bare bones Blu Ray.New technology is great!!! Same ol Bullsheeeeit.
The opening shots are my favorite. Narration and a close up of a black road speeding by. Also love the disturbing montage that follows.
The Terminator: I need your clothes, boots and your motorcycle.
Cigar Biker: You forgot to say please...

Does this mean the forthcoming re-release of Cliffhanger won't have any extras now either?
No.
The 18 rating is also a mistake. I should also point out there is no "director's cut" of this, its a special edition.

That's as maybe, but the disc itself refers to it as the director's cut in the menus and that's why it's mentioned.

So I guess the Joker made these extra's disappear heh? :p
Let's see - there is a menu shot that has a "bonus" button, but no bonus features? I wonder if it is only there to change the audio format / subtitles....
Nope, it's a video/audio calibration option, but it's c**p and doesn't count.
What will be in the Bonus menu? Audio?

The Origianl Uk Laserdisc had an 18 rating because of a part where sarah smashes a guards nose to pieces with a nightstick in the hospital breakout, the video release was cut and didn't have this so was given a 15 rating.
probably means this is the fully uncut one?

That the extra's are not confirmd yet it don't mean it don't get extra's. Also the English and Spanish subtitel are not confirmd yet,but also going to be on the disc too.
In The Netherlands Universal haven't yet anouched the release,so i can't take a look the Dutch version. But this Uk anouchment say it is the DC only so mabey it get the same extra's as the 2 disc UE dvd who only have the DC (In The Netherlands releasd by RCV) or the same material as the 3 disc UE but then without cinema version (The 3 disc who have the Cinema and DC is Releasd in The The Netherlands by Universal.).

That menu looks exactly the same as the UK HD DVD one. Under Bonus, is a video calibration tool and a Canal Plus HD trailer. Whether the BD continues this, we'll have to wait and see.
I've already answered this above. The video/audio calibration nonsense is there, but that's all.

Those are the exact, confirmed specs. I have the disc in my possession and there are no extras.
