forcing people to buy blu ray.i have a blu player but that's beside the point,i don't like this new idea of only having extras etc on the blu ray only.having said that it was a pretty poor film so i'm not sure i would buy it on either format.
There might be more extras still - I've not got my hands on the press release yet
ONE DISC DVD!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
One of the worst film this summer, just behind Transformers 2. Honestly, this felt nothing like a 'Terminator Film' at all. Christian Bale portrayed the most boring John Connor to date, even Thomas Dekker puts in far more interest performance as JC than him.
It's a pity, to see how the Terminator franchise is going down the dwell, and fast. The genius script and pulsating action 'Terminator Films' are the thing of the past. James Cameron's The Terminator and T2 are the only worthy 'Terminator Films' IMHO.

"T3" was better then this and that was mostly just a rehash of "T2".
I had heard that they were going to release a Director's cut of the film, but reading the above, it looks as if it is exclusively on Blu ray!!! Are they serious?????????
Can't wait to see the Director's Cut !
20 minutes extras !

Transformers 2 was great fun and way better than this and im a big fan of the terminator trilogy too, this was awful.
I was extremely disapointed with the movie. But at least it was better than "Transformers 2".
Nice work, Warner. Keep slighting the DVD owners and watch the sales go further downhill. And this is coming from a blu-ray owner.
This movie was beyond awful. I thought that both this one and Transformers 2 were pretty bad. Still waiting for Night at the Museum and now I'm waiting for Harry Potter.
i really enjoed it & will be buying the directors cut.
I don't think the directors cut is going to be released in Europe, because Sony distributed it here and Warners for the US. But assuming the BD will be Reg A/B it shouldn't matter. I would be interested in seeing an extended cut so I will probably import it.
I thought Anton Yelchin and Sam Worthington were great in this, the stars of the show for IMO. Especially Yelchin as a young Kyle.
And for those who can't stand T3 or Salvation just watch T2 with the alternate ending, problem solved.

It makes sense to slight DVD owners (and I don't own a blu-ray player) it's the only way they'll continue to sell anything. Most people I know are happy downloading movies for free or renting them to rip, soon the only people still buying movies will be blu-ray owners.
Drat, I was hoping for Christian Bale's profanity-laced rage-a-thon against the DP being included as one of the special features.....
No doubt, the worst of the Terminator films, but I might still get it for Sam Worthington, Moon Bloodgood, and Anton Yelchin. I liked their performances in the film....

I think the bare bones DVD is a good idea, they're trying to get people to upgrade to Blu. There are a lot of people who don't care about special features, and obviously not all of them are the same, but it's my experience that a lot of these same people don't care about special features don't find the need to upgrade to Blu either.

That means, time to upgrade to Blu-ray

Looks like an import on Blu for me, it's Watchmen all over again........
UPDATE
Just read elsewhere that Sony Pictures have confirmed that the UK DVD is Theatrical Cut only and the BD is both Theatrical and Director's Cut but.......via seamless branching and not separate discs like the US 3 disc release.
Assuming this is 100% correct, the choice is between the US 3 Disc BD or the Play.Com 2 Disc Steelbook..........

Definitly importing this one, i quite liked the movie, not as good as T1&2, but definitly better than 3.
I thought this was alright. Not the greatest, but I've certainly seen worse. Will definitely check out the director's cut...oh wait I can't because I don't have a Blu-ray player. FAIL.
this was a terminator film right? Then why did we only see like 3 terminators? IF this is the big war then shouldnt there big terminators everywhere you look? Where was the T-700? I know i saw a toy for one in walmart but yet didnt see it in the movie. too many questions and plot holes this movie created.
Should have known that the DVD release would be basically bare-bones. I can't even recall the last Warner Bros. new release that I've bought on DVD, it's been that long. Plus the shoddy treatment for the standard DVD release has really turned me off to buying any new releases from WB.
But who knows, perhaps by December there may be some good deals on Blu-Ray players and I could pick one up by then.

I saw the trailer to this and ran the other direction. This looked horrible. Bale yelling on set on youtube was more exciting.
I didn't hate Salvation, but it was FAR from the best in the series to date. Terminator 2: Judgment Day was amazing, and no Terminator film will ever top it
i know the movie didnt make as much money as they expected but for all the compklaining about the lack of any extras on the dvd, the blu-ray still doesnt have much. i expected a summer effects driven movie like this would have a ton of extras.
its cool they are indeed including a director's cut though but yeah. although the "focus points" can sometimes last over an hour on their own so i guess that's something.

I heard this film sucked, and then I heard was great. I'll probably just rent it.
Yeah it sucked. Doesn't look anything like the post apocalyptic future from the first movie either, wheres the nuclear winter?
Ah, I remember with fondness the days when an hour documentary, a commentary and a trailer was considered a fantastic extras package. These days, anything less than three hours of video extras and four commentary tracks will get labelled "a bit lacking" by someone.
The fact that they are not offering the director's cut for the DVD release is pretty much guaranteeing many to pirate the Blu-ray version... not cool at all. Not everyone can afford an HDTV and Blu-ray player.

I'd like to dispute that. Bloody two 'ls' as well.
