3 friggin minutes?! Where's the extra 30-40 minutes we were promised McG? The film was alright, but 3 extra minutes doesn't turn alright into amazing.
“Although Terminator Salvation was initially intended to be the first part of a new Terminator trilogy, its performance at the domestic US box office led many to question whether a fifth Terminator film would happen.
Then, to everyone’s surprise, the film gunned it on the international circuit, almost doubling Star Trek’s foreign take to hit a reasonable box office haul of $341M worldwide. That led to speculation that Terminator 5 might be back on the agenda – and it seems it is, with director McG now confirming Terminator 5 is being worked on as we speak.”

I like the 1-Disc artwork more but guess what...I ain't buying it.
Two more movies to bring over: Night at the Museum and Harry Potter.

I can agree with "Watchmen," but what are you talking about? Are you saying that "The Dark Knight" isn't a good film? I hope you don't think Harry Potter is c**p.

Yeah if you're a complete idiot. Blu Ray sucks. DVD all the way baby. Hell, I'd take VHS over Blu Ray

Surely am the idiot? You're as obsolete as those formats are! Either (and obviously) you can't afford it (an HDTV set/player) or your a rather stuck up old hag that rather be amongst the minority when you decide to choose old technology over a much more enhanced one. That's just easily being stubborn and mostly ignorant. The world develops and moves to better and newer advances, time to take that change buddy!

The official R-rating for the DC is "for violence and brief nudity."

I can't wait. Though the features being exclusively on Blu-Ray sucks... a lot!
Warner could of at least givin' the DVD widescreen version the director's cut with the full-screen as the theatical version.

To be fair, that is a good reason. She was great on Journeyman; was delighted to see her in Terminator, even if it was only a bit part.
But I am still hoping this 3-minute longer note is based on early info, and that the real 20+ minute longer director's cut will be on it. If the longer cut is not on it, then it either means there will be a double dip in a few months, or, that the in-fighting among the three producers forced a stop to the creation of the real director's cut. (They're suing each other again, just like they did during production).
Even if there's a double dip in the works, I'm getting this version anyway. Yes it was that good.

I just did some searching about the runtime of the DC, i found a page with info, they're pretty reliable most of the times: http://www.thehdroom.com/news/Terminator_Salvat... there it says the DC runs about 135 minutes, 20 minutes longer than the theatrical version.
I can't afford to purchase a Blu Ray disc player, let alone start building a BD library, or purchase an HDTV for my own personal use. There's a few thousands dollars of debt standing between me and all that. So, if they're not releasing the director's cut on DVD, I won't be buying "Terminator: Salvation" at all. Why bother? It's like Watchmen - I buy the two-disc director's cut only to be greeted inside the package with an ad for the FIVE DISC Ultimate Edition set - WTF?! Might as well just have someone smack me in the face when I open it.
I did enjoy this film, and if there's a director's cut out there - I want it. But no Blu Ray in the foreseeable future for me. So, either they give me the director's cut on DVD, or they don't get my sale at all, period.

You can buy a Blu-ray player for $60 now and you don't need a HDTV to play Blu-ray movies. I own a PS3 so I should know that a STV can play Blu-ray perfectly because I own a STV.
F 'em!
I'm not buying this, bare bones DVD.
YOU WILL NOT FORCE ME INTO YOUR FORMAT.

DVD is far superior to Blu Ray in every way
I can easily afford Blu Ray, but why waste the money? DVD is the way to be. Even VHS is better than Blu Ray

I assume you are being sarcastic, King. Even I don't own an HDTV and/or Blu-ray player as of yet but I can readily admit to the superior video and audio quality of the latter format versus DVD and needless to say VHS.

How is DVD and VHS far superior than Blu-ray? And why is it a waste of money?

Only 3 minutes of extra content?? I would hardly call that a "Director's Cut" unless we see a hot sex scene w/ Moon Bloodgood and extra blood and violence, which I don't think 3 mins is enough time to cover.
The Maximum Movie mode w/ McG does sound cool though. I just got an HDTV and Blu Ray 2 weeks ago, so I think I may go for that one.

So your thousands of dollars in debt, so that's why you can't upgrade. If that's the case, then that's a pretty valid reason. But, why you even be buying DVD's if your that much in debt?
I just got an HDTV and Blu Ray 2 weeks ago to replace a broken TV and you know how much I spent total? less than $500 for both. An HDTV and Blu Ray is more than affordable now.

I agree with J Linc.
I agree with J Linc.
does anybody know how long the director's cut will be? i heard different things: some source says it's only a few seconds longer but i also heard that it's 30-40 minutes longer and even has an alternative ending. so where does the truth lie?
I thought the movie was average. In my opinion, too many summer blockbusters have too much action, like an over-abundance. I'm not looking for the next Godfather, but I did expect more from the characters. Shoot, there are even some Hollywood blockbusters that even have lots of story and action (examples Watchmen, District 9, Inglourious Basterds). The amount of action in this movie was inexcusable. Maybe I'll Netflix it, so I might enjoy it. But a purchase is out of the question.
As for everyone freaking about the 1-disc barebones DVD, this is why you need to upgrade to Blu-ray.

If you cant afford an HDTV set up - thats your own fault. Go out and get a better paid job. Just because you cant afford something, it does not give you the right to just get a pirate version of the Blu-ray. I drive a c**ppy car, but my neighbour has a Porshe, does it mean I can just go steal/use it when I want because I can't afford my own??

1-disk DVD?!?!? WB is starting to piss me off. Let me guess, Harry Potter & The Hangover will have no special features either! Well, at least Star Trek seems to have lots of special features!

Erm....
I don't think the poster was advocating the pirating of Blu Ray discs, he was merely saying that people who want to see the DC version but do not have Blu Ray will seek out a pirated copy on the internet, a very valid point if you ask me.
Now, I own a 46" Samsung LCD, PS3, Xbox Elite, Toshiba HD-E1 and an Oppo DV-980, which covers all bases but do I think that those less fortunate than myself shouldn't be able to enjoy the things I do? NO IT DOES NOT
I wholeheartedly support the release of multi platform games so people on Xboxes, PS3's, Wii's and even PS2's can still enjoy what I do and I believe that the same should hold true for film, in this case I believe Warner's to be cynically trying to maximise the sales of this movie at the same time as maximising sales for Blu Ray, the revenue streams generated by BD is probably the reason why they're doing it and from a business point of view I guess it makes fiscal sense however I do not support this action.
Bottom line from Warner's seems to be that if you want to see the film as intended then you have to have Blu Ray and that isn't right, at the end of the day the consumer should have the right to choose, of course the counter argument would be that true enthusiasts for this and other films would have already adopted Blu Ray and this is a sweetener for those users, who knows.
However, to condemn someone for posting a valid comment is pathetic, perhaps others out there might not be as fortunate as you and I?? or perhaps you just didn't read it right in the first place??.

HDTV is about the same price as the "tube" TVs when they were first introduced. you get get one for as low $400 american now for a 35 inch. So it's actually not that expensive. but yeah I can understand why people would get annoyed because the blu-ray has so many more features.
The only thing that pisses me off is people who bashes blu-ray just because they don't think it's worth paying the extra money, when I know at least half of the people that bashes blu-ray has never actually experienced blu-ray before and when I say Experience I mean watching a blu-ray movie on a HDTV, not watching it on a tube TV. If you actually experienced blu-ray on an HDTV you'll know it's actually worth the extra cash.
with that being said, I think I'll pick up the blu-ray for this movie
