We've got 3 HDTVs now in the house. I replaced my 32" CRT with a 42" two years ago. We replaced Mom's 27" CRT with a 32" last Christmas, and my Dad just replaced his 36" CRT with a 52". However we don't have Blu-ray yet. I've got a 1080p up-converting Oppo DVD player on my system. It's pretty good when viewed from a distance of about 10'.

This film did not suck!!!!!!!!! I dont know what more one could possibly ask for from a movie. It was action-packed!!!!!!!!!! People just dont know how to ENJOY a movie nowadays, they go in expecting Oscar-caliber everything, and act like idiots and hate every movie that comes out. Lighten up, people. I am so pissed off about the DVD news its not even funny. Im so freaking sick and tired of Blu-Ray getting all the extras and those of us who dont wanna pay 30 bucks for ONE movie, getting squat. Not everyone is going to ever be willing to upgrade, same with 3D every frickin movie seems like its coming out in 3D. Not to mention the fact that the darkers thriller films dont get as much business, whereas lame as hell kiddie movies like Monsters Vs. Aliens makes into the 300 millions or so. I HATE BLU-RAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They better upgrade the DVD for Terminator 4, not only did they wait forever to release information, but then they put practically nothing on the DVD. This is F****** ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry im just venting. So please dont rip me apart, im just expressing my feelings hoping theres someone who maybe agrees with me. LOL

If you cant afford an HDTV set up - thats your own fault. Go out and get a better paid job. Just because you cant afford something, it does not give you the right to just get a pirate version of the Blu-ray. I drive a c**ppy car, but my neighbour has a Porshe, does it mean I can just go steal/use it when I want because I can't afford my own??
Erm....
I don't think the poster was advocating the pirating of Blu Ray discs, he was merely saying that people who want to see the DC version but do not have Blu Ray will seek out a pirated copy on the internet, a very valid point if you ask me.
Now, I own a 46" Samsung LCD, PS3, Xbox Elite, Toshiba HD-E1 and an Oppo DV-980, which covers all bases but do I think that those less fortunate than myself shouldn't be able to enjoy the things I do? NO IT DOES NOT
I wholeheartedly support the release of multi platform games so people on Xboxes, PS3's, Wii's and even PS2's can still enjoy what I do and I believe that the same should hold true for film, in this case I believe Warner's to be cynically trying to maximise the sales of this movie at the same time as maximising sales for Blu Ray, the revenue streams generated by BD is probably the reason why they're doing it and from a business point of view I guess it makes fiscal sense however I do not support this action.
Bottom line from Warner's seems to be that if you want to see the film as intended then you have to have Blu Ray and that isn't right, at the end of the day the consumer should have the right to choose, of course the counter argument would be that true enthusiasts for this and other films would have already adopted Blu Ray and this is a sweetener for those users, who knows.
However, to condemn someone for posting a valid comment is pathetic, perhaps others out there might not be as fortunate as you and I?? or perhaps you just didn't read it right in the first place??.
Bravo! Well said. I agree 100%.

This, X-Men Origins, Transformers 2, and Drag Me to Hell. All overrated/highly anticipated films that were just so bad they were overloaded with fanfare for nothing.
OK, WB has gone completely sucky. I don't get how they could release movies like Watchmen, those animated DC comic movies, and Yes Man on 2-disks on 2-disk but not Terminator? Please tell me someone (like Target, or Wall-Mart) will have their own collector's edition. Also, why upgrade to Blu-Ray when something better will just come out soon?

Yes, they're serious. Most people are getting blu-ray now. People like you said the same thing about DVD when you were still into VHS.
Actually, I was most disenchanted with video tape for all its flaws! When the CD first came out, I was extremely pleased with the sound quality & only wished that sometime in the future that movies could be offered with crystal sound & video! Boom!!! the DVD was created & I was quite satisfied. I am still quite satisfied as I have an upconverting dvd player so I can see it in near-hd quality. I will upgrade to Bluray in the near future, so please don't shoot me down due to the fact that the Director's Cut is being exclusively released on Bluray & not both formats!!! That's my problem!!!

Actually, if u go on Amazon, they have "some" info on Night @ the Museum. All I know is there's gonna be a single disk, and 2-disk, DVD & 3-disk (with the worthless digital copy) Blu-Ray. AT least Fox is still releasing 2-disk edition DVDs!

This movie was ok. not nearly as bad as people amd eit out to be. I liked the look / palette of the movie, and Sam Worthington.

Don't say that it doesn't, to get the most out of it you need too. No B.S. please.
When I say force, I do mean it. Unless you don't want to buy any new movies with extras, then don't buy Blu-Ray. You're being left behind. I see this format as nothing less than greed in physical form. Lets be honest here - Blu-Ray is the studios' answer to get us to buy our movies all over again.
We all had to some extent a library of VHS movies; mine was laser discs. I didn't make the jump to DVDs until 2003. I bought tons of releases as did many others. I have nearly replaced my old collection. I'm buying far less now, just stuff of interest; not upgrading movies. The studios are feeling this matter. People have gotten their library settled. Lots of the new stuff is c**p. 'Why would I buy that?' The same situation happened to the music industry.
Their solution was to have a new format to get us all to rebuy. They invested billions of dollars into it; HD/Blu-Ray. Now they hyping the hell out of it. See your movies like never before!!! Nifty bells and whistles, buy - buy - buy! How much do you want to bet that these same studios have investments in the same equipment needed to see their movies? *cough*Sony*cough* It's in their best interest to have a single format. A format they have far more control of.
Lets not confuse hype with the pretense that they care about us. It's all about profit, nothing more. Those FAILED corporate bailouts tells the story far better than I. What they should've done was make better movies. Make us want to buy good stories and tales. Not change that game so that we have to rebuy.
If you can't see that, you've become a zealot. Me? I don't care; have to the two formats - just make sure both have the same extras. What's so hard about that? For crying out loud, if they're still releasing full screen movies why can't we have DVDs and Blu-Rays??? Oh wait... greed.
well spoken sir, i agree 100% ...where will it stop,red-ray,hhddbvvdvd....a little chip implanted in your head that a person will just scan the movie directly into your brain....4,000,000 super omega progressive tv ....i dunno about you but i dont want to have to buy evil dead or halloween on another format ever again and if i wanted to upgrade all of my dvds to blue-ray it would cost me a bloody fortune as i own over 500 and it grows every week

This is something I've been wondering about for some time. The next gen of DVD up scaling/step-up players. The NSA and CIA have various image enhancement programs, this is pretty much a given. I'm positive they're always upgrading to the next version. Lets say program "X" is now on version 14, could version 5 be made available for civilian use? Even a water down version. The program could be put on a chip and inserted into DVD players. A near high definition picture, I can believe that could happen.
Just thinking out loud.

Good movie. Not the best of 09. Star Trek and X-Men Origins, hold that place. This was enjoyable, i'll rent the directors cut.
I for one am letting the BD player upscale my DVDs as it will be too expensive to upgrade them - I will only do it for less than ten movies - Lord of the Rings being 3 of them.....
This should have been an R rating in the first place so you knew that the directors cut would have added something to it.....

Would be sweet if those exec-morons decided to release it on HD-DVD, instead of the slower, more expensive and all-around c**ppier blu-ray.
