It's a pity yet again the UK isn't getting the BD Live features the American BD is getting. I hear the USA BD will be Profile 2.0.

No i haven't bought it, it's not out yet and there are too many subtitles, hehe.

Seems more like a big deal to you than me. It's just an irritating trend to me. I'm not the slightest bit interested in who's catered for in the rest of europe.

It's not cost-effective to make multiple copies of a disc for every language in Europe. Like it or not, the market just isn't big enough here. Subtitles and audio tracks usually default to the default language you specify in your player's settings page anyway, and changing audio/subs on HD titles is much easier than DVD.

It always comes down to cost doesn't it? Still, can always import region 1 discs.

lets hope these are the specs for the north american release. its not an awesome movie but its one i always liked and i had avoided the dvd because it was barebones and then they release d 2 disc edition (i assume these are the extras from it) but it seems impossible to find now so this works out well.

Why? Do they personally offend you? They take naff all space up, more the better. It's dub soundtracks that can get in the way of Lossless audio (see Bourne Supremacy and Elizabeth: The Golden Age) or Picture quality.

Personally I too love the 5.1 remix but I can appreciate many people don't. Agree it should've included 5.1 and Mono. Sadly many Mono/Stereo soundtracks will probably be lost forever, especially in the HD arena.

I guess I'm lucky that I cannot spot the new sound effects at all. I'm more annoyed they used a BD25 with space hogging PCM and MPEG2. I hear this makes it really no better than the DVD.

Speaking of the DVD only the R1 and R3 ever had Mono. The European and Australian releases all had DD5.1 or DD5.1 and DTS only. The R1 is now OOP, but the R3 isn't (which is identical).

I disagree...  I like the 5.1 remix.  The mono-track severely dates the movie.  Not just because of the monoral sound, but the bad, yes bad, early '80s sounds.

You'd think they'd stop with all those f**king subtitles by now.
