I love this movie as a kid! I still have it on VHS. It was sssooo adorable! Except I never heard about these animal abuse rumors.
Can't bare to watch this after hearing some things about how they treated the animals. True or not, I can't watch animals in distress.

Animal Cruelty on this film has never been proven. Although the American Humane Society allowed the use of their name on the film without any officers present, several Japanese animal rights organizations did have officers present and gave the film a clean bill of health.
Yeah I remember liking this as a kid but when I watch it now I just see animals in distress. And I'm one of those people that hates PETA and youtube commentators on every animal video.
This film has such a brutal back story. They pretty much abused the s**t out of the little critters.
I am surprised the original Japanese version isn't getting released alongside of the American version.
