I agree but I doubt it. I own the Matrix Trilogy HD-DVD box set but really just want the first film. The sequels are pretty rubbish.
Warner has them listed separately on their site, but that doesn't mean anything.
When there is a chance for a double dip the studios will always take it
Would be good if they did release separate versions. A lot of people only want the first film, although the trilogy set is only £30.
I paid £17.99 for it on HD-DVD :D.
I wonder of those that despise the sequels (there are many) want the first movie bad enough to buy the whole set.
I bet they'd sell much more copies of the first film if they sold it separately.

I have a question: is the version of The Matix (original) on the Blu-ray the recut/regraded version (to look more like the sequels), or the original theatrical version, or both?
It's the same as the version in The Ultimate SD-DVD box set.
ie: The regraded version. But recut? There were no cuts.
I prefer the regraded version. It pushes the visual style a little further and I think it looks much better.

Regraded? Look more like the sequels? What was done to the first film?

Wasn't there a cut version released on DVD in the UK first? The regraded version released in 2006 was uncut and so is this Blu-Ray set.

I was certain it was re-cut as well, no changes made but smoother transitions between scenes, etc.
Animatrix was ok, but there's no way it's worth more than a fiver on any format as it's basically just a glorified extra feature.
Yeah, I'm not sure about UK cuts.
Wassup with your censorship over there, guys?
All I know is, in the Australian PAL Ultimate Set, there were no cuts.

Don't know about any re-cuts, but they did have the original Matrix colour timed again to match the sequels. The HD version is the new colour scheme.
All UK Matrix cuts were waived some years back but I believe this was after ALL the DVD releases, but in time for the HD Discs.

Had some amazing shorts on there, with equally amazing different styles.
This is a rubbish state of affairs that we don't seem to be getting the Ultimate Collection on BD. We seem to have to make do with 'the Complete Trilogy' instead. It looks as if Warners has looked at the Ultimate collection and said, 'well there's nothing new in HD (as far as the extras go) so we'll not bother releasing it. Oh yes, the Animatrix is now HD so we'll put that out seperately.
I can sort of see Warners point. If you bought the Ultimate edition on DVD then you basically have all the extras and they're not going to look any better on any BD collection as they're in SD but come on. How long did we have to wait for this release? Over a year after the HD-DVD release.
I didn't buy the Ultimate collection on DVD cos I was waiting for the whole lot to be released on BD. Now (if I want all the content of the USBD) I've got to buy it in bits and pieces. I've got to buy:-
The Ultimate Collection on DVD.
The Complete (Ha. Nice use of words there, acurate but hardly complete given that the Ultimate is out there) Trilogy on UKBD.
And the Animatrix on UKBD.
'What a pisser' - Ted Striker - Airplane.
Moan over.

If you're releasing The Animatrix on it's own, does that mean we'll see individual releases for the Matrix movies?
I'm happy to buy all three, but I'm not interested in the over-the-top box set with The Animatrix and all the other stuff.
Just give me the movies in three separate Blu-ray cases.
Please?
