Hey guys,
Full disclosure here, I worked on the movie so I'll admit I'm totally biased. Yes, The Ant Bully was a huge flop financially, but that doesn't make it a bad movie. And the reviewers that thought that it was some kind of communist propaganda must be absurdly paranoid self-appointed culture police that listen to right-wing radio all day long and fear that liberal Hollywood is corrupting their children's minds. Folks, the movie was made in Texas, George W. Bush country. And I know the writer/director personally--he's as capitalist as they come.
Give the movie a chance, you might like it.

Frank The Rabbit wrote: Does anyone know how many CG animated films came out this past year. Seems to me there were at least 8.
This, Monster House, Barnyard, Over the Hedge, Cars, Doogal, Ice Age 2, Hoodwinked. Did I miss any?
Add Everyone's Hero and Open Season to the list. That's an even 10!!

Can't forget The Wild. That makes 11.

Not true. A flop, perhaps, but not the bloodbath reported.
Do your homework.
Uhh.. $27 million ($41 WW) on a $50+ million budget not counting advertising costs sounds like a big flop to me.This still has to be released in quite a few countries yet...

Terrible film, worse cover.... Warner, when are you gonna give us news about the film we WANT to see, let alone buy- Supes?!

Didn't this just hit theaters like 3 or 4 weeks ago? lol
I actually kinda wanted to see it before the reviews came out. I might give it a rent because of all the voice talents...

"Monster House" was the only good animated film of the year. I didn't see "Over the Hedge" though. "Cars" was awful.
there were a lot of animations this year!!
some of them were awful, and some were just great!!!
i'll may check this one out!!

Well I liked A Bug's Life (Pixar fan in general), didn't care for Antz, and...well...not too fond of Communism, so therefore was never too interested in The Ant Bully. I'll consider renting, though.
Bug's Life + Antz + Communism = ANT BULLY
Bruce Campbell does a voice? Hmmmmm.... maybe I will give this a watch when it unevitably comes on tv.
huge flop.
A Bug's Life and Antz have done everything that can be done with the animated insect genre, both excellent movies. I heard this was just empty and very bad.
There has been quite a few animated movies this year. Ice Age 2, The Wild, Over the Hedge, Cars... Maybe thats why the box office for a few of these hasn't been so great. I would like to check this one out along with Barnyard when that comes out.
Cute cover, awful movie.
I'll rent it, possibly, for Bruce Campbell.
just seems like a rip-off of the overrated Bug's Life (i love all the other pixar) but the cast is awesome
Why is there full specs and artwork for "The Ant Bully" and the specs haven't been finalized for "Superman Returns"? Seriously, Warner is really inconsistent these days...
As for the film, I heard some really negative reviews about this film and the trailers didn't impress me, so I don't think I'll see it. The success of Pixar and Dreamworks Animation have clearly inspired the WB, Paramount and Fox to try and get similar results. If these companies want to make money off CGI animated films, they need a good story and good execution, not just the latter.

Comes out on the same day as "Superman Returns", eh? Perhaps we can rename it the "Warner takes a financial bath" day.
