On July 4, 2009 a deadly menace swept through the quaint seaside town of Claridge, Maryland, but the harrowing story of what happened that Independence Day has never been told - until now. The authorities believed they had buried the truth about the tragedy that claimed over 700 human lives. Now, three years later, a reporter has emerged with footage revealing the cover-up and an unimaginable killer: a mysterious parasitic outbreak. Told from the perspective of those who were there and saw what happened, The Bay unfolds over 24 hours through people's iPhones, Androids, 911 calls, web cams and whatever else could be used to document the nightmare in Claridge.

It's truly one of the more disgusting films of 2012. It was fun to watch and had some great scares. @djblack1313 is right, it's like watching a Discover Channel doc. Acting can be weak but it's worth it to suspend your disbelief and just let the story unfold.
this was a great movie, very unnerving
It's on my 'To Buy' list.
i REALLY liked this movie. i F'ing can't stand the "found footage"/(most) first person/hand held type technique used in far too many movies these days but it works in this movie. what was a relief is that there's barely (maybe 2 or 3 scenes tops) shaky cam parts. it uses many different types of footage (cop car cams, hospital stationary cams, etc) most from stationary cams.
the movie (much to my surprise) had instant foreboding/dread going on in it and it just grows and grows. i admit that it's like you're watching a Discovery Channel documentary and it doesn't have any big set pieces or very much gore (it has a couple) but these creatures/parasites in the movie (based on real life parasites), how they breed and what they do to the host is horrifying.
