Wow, did you actually just say you're not giving up your "full screen" version?! Ummm, the OAR (Original Aspect Ratio) for the film is most definately 2.35. Aside from common sense, I saw it in the theater and can confirm that.
Actually, the OAR is 1.85:1, not 2.35:1.

The cover is nice, but whats with the Dude being in the background and John Turturro having center stage/cover?? that's just not right!!! that's like Rosanna Arquette having third billing in the movie Silverado, a movie she was hardly in. lol.
'bowling ball packaging', Just another great movie that wont fit on my shelf.

I might bite. Two-disc edition of one of my favorite movies is tempting. Plus, I don't like the intro on the Collector's Edition where the guy calls it "The Grand Lebowski".
If they sold the bowling ball cases for fans to put their Lebowski DVD's for a cheap price, then I'd probably get it. But I'm okay with my current DVD release.
Brilliant set but I already have this one - so maybe next time they release this in the first place!!!

They totally ripped off the whole "Gantz" black sphere collectors edition, with the bowling ball. But who cares, I hate Gantz... with a passion. I'll pick this up.
Here's the reported list of bonus features:
"The Dude's Life: Strikes and Gutters ... Up's and Downs ... The Dude Abides"
"The Lebowski Fest: An Achiever's Story"
"Flying Carpets and Bowling Pin Dreams: The Dream Sequences of the Dude"
"Interactive Map"
Theatrical Trailer
"Jeff Bridges Photo Book"
Photo Gallery
and all the extras from the release in 2005
this seems like a worthy upgrade and love that bowling ball packaging!

I might have to triple dip on this one for the Bowling Ball.
never seen the movie but I love the cover art especially the bowling ball packaging
The Dude would agree.
I agree the bowling ball packaging is amazing and the cover art for the regular DVD is great too.
ill probably just stick with the regular verison, altho the bowling ball version looks pretty cool
i love this film, i really hope this release is good
Yessir. That bowling ball will sit real tight on the shelf in among them B's.
I've got the HD DVD, which has the same extras as the collector's edition. I see no reason to get any other (especially not one in standard def).
I'm not one for gimmicks but i have to admit thats pretty good.

Great another release. How about getting a first release for Beyond Rangoon?
nice cover.
i'm so used to floating heads i was almost sad for a second.
almost.

almost.
i was close to buying the last release of this, luckily i held out. love the artwork, but i want to see what the bowling ball packaging is first.
i hope the blu-ray verison gets the same treatment with remastered pic/audio quality and using the same cover art.
Simply for the fact that the coverart is fantastic, I am going to buy this dvd lol...but those new features are definitely welcome as well
Well i think just the dude lying on the rug with his headphones on would have been great and some kind of real feel rug on the cover (sarcasm).
Finally someone comes up with some cover art that no one can complain about (well no one but m@tt) it's awesome!
I also love the way the rug frames the DVD and I don't think it's too busy, if anything they could have added the Nihilists on the right side of the bowling ball.
"it really tied the room together"

Great art...I want a Blu-ray edition! I think I'll wait as I have the original and "Special Edition". Twice is enough on SD dvd
I love the way the rug frames the DVD and the bowling lane at the bottom but theres too much going on in the middle. I think just putting the dude centre would have been enough.
great cover art
"Jeff Bridges, isn't he the bad guy in Iron Man?"
Jeff Bridges is already forgotten which is a shame.

Wow, I really like that cover. Can't wait to see the LE artwork.
I own the most recent release but if theres lots of cool extras I might buy bc the artwork rules on this one
that artwork is nice. will go ahead and triple-dip on it with no hesitation, because this movie rocks (either the LE or 2-disc).
Holy c**p, now that's the definition of amazing cover art.
Artwork added...
I will wait for the BD - they usually have what's on the special editions anyway
The 2005 DVD had a significantly better transfer, so that release was justified. Thus far this one looks to be just milking it though.
Here are the extras fellas!! So far it sounds pretty good, but still no commentary...

I might pick this up as the 2-Disc sounds like it has some pretty decent extras.
just Universal trying to sniff up some more dough. the 2005 release is fine, but i'll consider either the 2-disc or LE bowling ball if the extras are decent.

I think you can TECHNICALLY call it a 4th edition because they had the Orginal,The SE,and then first SE Bowling thing and now this one!

Universal is having a big time now re-releasing a lot of older movies too but they just seem to miss the mark(ESPECIALLY with this one) every time. Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't focus features do the last dvd?
what ? 5.1 ? oh well here in Finland we have :
"Making-of" featurette
Exclusive 15 minute cast & crew interview about the making of the film
Theatrical trailer
Cast bios
Bonus trailers
Theatrical trailer
"White Russian" recipe (text)
Subtitles: Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish
Aspect Ratio: 1.85:1
Picture Format: Anamorphic
TV System: PAL
Soundtrack(s):
English DTS 5.1
English Dolby Digital 5.1
English Dolby Digital 2.0 surround
Case type: Amaray (Keep) Case
Notes: This is the "New Edition".
Easter eggs:
On the bonus material screen, when the "cast & crew" entry is highlighted, press right. The easter egg will immediately start to play. It's some B-roll footage, mainly focusing on the Coens behind the camera setting up shots, given guidelines etc

I was thinking of picking up the CE, but if this has more special features I'll forgo that and pick this up. It would be cool to get a Coen Brothers commentary. I heard they don't do commentaries though. I agree with getting a two-disc edition of No Country. I've abstained from buying it because of the lack of bonuses.
I'll stick with the "Collector's Edition." This seems unnecessary.
The dude abides.
BLU-RAY?????????
Lebowski DVD History:
-Standard DVD (w/ trailers that only appear on this disc + making of)
-Collector's Edition (w/ making of, intro & J.B. photography)
-Lebowski Achievers Edition Set (w/ collector's edition DVD & extra c**p in a box)
-HD DVD (same extras as collector's edition)
-10th Anniversary Edition (NEW)
-10th Anniversary Edition: Bowlin' Ball Packaging (NEW)
I really hope this is not a re-packaging. I already own the HD DVD & 1st DVD release(simply to hold on to the awesome trailer). Another site stated 'This 2-Disc Anniversary Edition is apparently “loaded with all-new bonus features that will take you beyond the movie”' & that the Bowling Ball version will be individually numbered.

The Coens don't pack any edition of any of their movies with special features, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was pretty much a repackaging of the last edition. The next time I purchase this will be to upgrade to blu-ray.
yes...
WTF? Another version of the Big Lebowski!?
"Bowling ball packaging" this sounds lame so far, what did the last one have 4 coasters and a bowling towel...c'mon.
Where is the Raising Arizona 20th Anniversary edition? Or the Miller's Crossing 15th Anniversary edition? I'd even settle for a 2-disc "Awards Edition" of No Country For Old Men!

If it's the special edition I wanted last time, I'll bite. But it better be good. Commentaries (even if not the Coens, why not the cast), and other stuff.
The third.
Won't buy it unless it has significant, amazing extras. I'm happy with my other "collector's edition".
