Its funny but sad... it is called "The Break-UP' for a reason
looks funny,to me a must own!
I hated this film. And the cover art is just ok.
I didnt expect to like this. But they nailed couplehood. The photo montage at the beggining, I have had pics like that. And there were times when I gaped open mouthed at the screen and thought "OMG, I have had this fight"
Thats probably just a sad commentary on my dating life, but they captured those nuances well.

a commentary with jen and vince. thats enough for me to buy this disc.
Commentary by Vaughn & Aniston? I must have it! I'm a big fan of both, and the movie was good.
maybe a rental, this moving didn't look very good....
I can't see antone Spending over 30 bucks for the HD version of this film.

I guess Universal wanted to wait three more weeks so that "The Break-Up" wouldn't face that much competition in the DVD sale/rental department on the same day, from the likes of "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "The Little Mermaid" -- both of which are coming out October 3rd.

Putting Kubrick on HD makes no sense because most all his films were shot in full screen, so they have to matte the picture to 16X9, which, if you read disc reviews on Full Metal Jacket, caused an odd line on the top and bottom of the picture, next to the black bars.
3 of Kubrick's 13 films were shot in the open matte format (The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, Eyes Wide Shut). No, I haven't read the reviews, but what I meant was that people would buy Kubrick movies on HD-DVD or Blu Ray. If they want HD-DVD and Blu Ray to do well from the beginning, offer movies people WANT to see on HD-DVD that would be different from DVD. "Saving Private Ryan" on HD-DVD would be a good idea, you know? Stuff like that.

I'm surprised to see so many positive feelings towards this film. I thought it looked like c**p and Ebert & Roeper said it was pretty c**ppy so I didn't give it a second thought.
On a seperate note, that is Universal's combo packaging, but it doesn't say that it's a combo on top. Weird. Maybe they're still deciding.

Ok, so, why are movies like this given the HD-DVD treatment? Honestly, Batman, yes, Kubrick, yes. Rumour Has It... What the Hell? Who would bother? I mean, they should choose better films to release for their first releases. I mean, Gasp! You can see Vince Vaughn's forehead wrinkles! Who cares? I know I don't and that there are people out there who do but man... Who would pay $40 to see that?
HD DVD artwork added...
Looks stupid, but I'll give it a try and rent it.

I'm curious to see this movie though it will probably be bad.
It costs money to master the film in HD and produce the HD-DVD, hence the high cost. Although I think this HD-DVD release will be a DVD/HD-DVD combo disc, like "Slither" and "Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift".I think you will find that it wont cost them that much....they are just cashing in...

I didn't care for this movie. I didn't think it was remotely funny, and to be honest, I couldn't wait for it to end. I hope Vaughn gets better roles real soon, and I agree with the above poster who said Jennifer Aniston can't act and is average looking; she can't and she is!
Spoiler I believe for the alternate original ending instead of them staying split up with that one scene where they look at each other they bump into each other and they're dating mirror images of each other.
THANK GOD THEY'RE USING THE ORIGINAL COVER!!! I can't wait to buy this. BEST MOVIE SO FAR OF 2006!!!
awful movie. and it doesn't help that jon favreau pokes his no-talent head in every now and again.
I liked it, it was definitely not the average Vince Vaughn comedy, but it was more honest than most, and it worked most of the time.
I'm thinking of getting this because I really want to see the alternative ending.
I still hope for a VV commentary though...

Personally, I thought it was a bitter-sweet film. It was both funny and painful (in places) but the ending made the whole film interesting for me and much more memorable. Refreshing.
The movie is entertaining enough, but the ending is fairly uneasy and doesn't fit in with the rest of the story.
Art's good, though. Might be a good idea to put a quote at the bottom.

I saw this recently and it was better than expected. I liked Aniston in this movie, I'm not familiar with very much of her work though. Vaughn was funny and his character was a bit of a jerk but I liked how his character "grew up" at the end. The supporting cast was pretty good, with Jon Favreau being the best. I want to see this again but I don't think it's worth buying..
Not a great movie by any stretch, but a mild surprise. Very good for it's genre and refreshing.
'mikey mike', please refrain from posting homophobic comments on the forums. It's not big and it's not clever... etc.

I thought the scene with the singing brother was comedic gold, if Clerks 2 haden't come out I would say this was the funniest movie I saw so far in 2006.

I doubt it is $10 more to produce the HD. If they really want the format to take off, they need to get it priced the same (or at least relatively close) to DVD.

For a romantic comedy I thought it was pretty damn funny and I have been in a few of those situations and arguments. Maybe thats why I laughed so much.

It was a decent romcom. One that straight guys like me can enjoy with their laydays.
I thought The Break-Up was an interesting look at real relationships, but they should NOT have marketed the film as a comedy. That's what I feel took away from it.
critics dont really like ms aniston!
I want to see this but critics say it was really bad
i think they're doing that because vince vaughn is seen as a primarily comedic actor
?
?
I actually liked the movie, I just wish they'd stop promoting it as a comedy because it was hardly funny!
Will be picking it up though!

i heard that jennifer aniston hated how her chin looked on the movie posters that she said she would try to change it if she could for the dvd.
does it look any different?

I'm curious about the alternate ending.
Why is Jennifer Aniston famous? She can't even remotely act and she's average looking. Oh well...
As for the movie, I heard all the best parts where in the trailer. Since I like Vince Vaughn I hope it was better then that for his sake.

Stupid Brad Pitt...
This was not all that bad after I lost the coin toss to what movie we we seeing one night. I am not sure about picking up the DVD, but if one had not seen it, it was not bad, just not a chuckle-fest.

i liked this because it was honest and not some silly romantic comedy.
im glad they used the poster. I will pick this up.

This was a pleasant surprise for me. Very Honest.
(IS THIS A) SPOILER (?)
Which was the original ending the one where they remain broken up or some other one where ostensibly they stay together?
I didn't hate it but I was expecting a lot more funny than what I got. The trailer left me excited and the movie left me....deflated. I have no problem with the ending, but I must say that Vince Vaughn's character was truly not likable. I just couldn't root for him at all. He was just a jerk, and the story didn't even make him a lovable jerk. He's like Ralph Kramden minus the charm.

I can't wait to get this. Didn't see it, but I'm anxious to see the original ending... before audiences changed it.
