I think I saw on play.com that there was this 9-disc version available, but I also heard there was a 13-disc set available too. Any word on that one?
I would have posted it if there was.
Does the Superman 2 set actually include the restored/Donner version of the film?
Appears to be so for the fans across the pond in R2, but here in R1 it seems like we have to buy the Donner cut on it's own. Doesn't really matter for me cause all I want is the first film and the Donner cut of Superman II.
Nice set, although can they really claim the first movie as 4 discs when they put cartoons and Mole men movie on the 4th disc. Still, I'll buy it for sure.
play.com have the 13-disc set listed as having bonus discs for Superman III & IV, as well as the double disc set of Superman Returns. Think I'll stick with this Christopher Reeve collection and get the Brandon Routh ones separately.
I'm really interested in the Donner/Mankiewicz commentary on Superman II. Their track on Superman: The Movie was very good, and given the history of the second film their commentary for II should be great. It'll also be interesting to compare their commentaries with those provided by Salkind/Spengler and get everyone's take on the two movies and the different versions.
Great. Really good that Superman and Superman 2 (including the Donner cut) will be able to buy seperately. Definitely buy these.
Glorious.
Oh good heavens, this odes look glorious. Do I have the willpower to wait for the 13 disk set? It'll have to have some pretty special stuff on there.
But the news of no recut Superman 4 is almost as galling as the lack of a recut Batman Forever.

Batman Forever
Batman Forever had added scenes put back into it for the special edition re-release didn't it?

Unfortunately not but the deleted scenes are available on disc 2. And the UK special edition release is still heavily cut compared to the R1 to get the PG rating.

Disc Three
All new introduction by director Richard Donner
^^^ Introduction to what? The Donner Cut? Seems like Disc Three may be it.

You sure? I know the old 1-disc affair was a PG, but my 2-discer is longer, has new stuff in the film (extended action sequences mainly), is a 12-certificate and says on the front cover "contains additional material." That was done pretty much on the quiet, and the 3 extended James Bond films in the recent 4-disc set were also kept relatively quiet in the advertising campaign, so perhaps we will see slightly recut versions of the other 2 films too.

This is dumb. R2 gets a 3 disk for Supes 2 and R1 has two separate purchases for each cut. What kind of sense does that make? I hope Warner changes it's mind and gives R1 a 3 disk as that is where I tend to buy from. But, still super excited (pun totally intended) to get these. Come on Nov!!!!
Why not wait till it is released in R1, R2 & R4 and compare before you buy?
can I see the movie in this website?tell me please

I stand corrected! I've had a look at the BBFC website and apparently the most recent DVD release is 'all previous cuts waived'. The previous PG release was missing 1m 38s of footage. I'm surprised they didn't make more of the fact it was now uncut, as you say, like the Bond films.
Now if they'd put the microwave sequence back in Batman Returns, I might get it. I know it's only a few seconds but I hate buying films when I know they're cut. That's why I've held off the Matrix 10 disc set, while the Matrix is missing those headbutts I don't want it!

Ah but the R2 Batman Returns has no commentary. I got a copy from CD Wow which had the microwave scene, director's commentary and NO BBFC certificates on the disks or case.

This artwork looks slightly better than R1, specially with the border, it looks 'classier', but still not a buy for me, except for the Ultimate Boxset....I'm still debating whether to buy a PS3 and the bluray release for these, will any of you do something alike?
Again, Region 2 bested us in the cover art department with DC Movies... Touche R2... Touche.
Does anyone know the difference between the R1 14 disc ultimate edition and the R2 / R4 13 disc ultimate edition?????
