Looks exactly the same as R1.

I just may have to pick this up. (The R1 version that is.) Fortunately, I didn't buy the 2-disc version.
What is the mythical signifigance attached to four disc sets? Ever since LOTR broke the back of having a 4 disc set without any real bloatware (depending on your point of view) it seems that every film with an over inflated sense of it's own ego is trying to have four disc sets in ornate packaging.
And lets be honest, very few of them deserve four discs to document the existence of their celluloid. Gone With The Wind, I'll buy a four discer of that. Ben-Hur, ride that chariot one more time. When the four disc editions of Bladerunner and Lawrence of Arabia come out, I'll be first in the queue.
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe DOES NOT deserve four discs. Particularly when you consider that the film is only gonna be on one of them. How can you fill 3 discs with the making of an utterly average fantasy movie. I don't care how worshipped the source material is, the film aint worth. Neither would I argue is Superman or Kingdom Of Heaven (though I'm such a sucker for Ridley Scott I know I'll get that).
I await with bated breath the four disc edition of Gigli complete with behind the scenes footage of Al Pacino's psychiatric session as he tries to get over agreeing to appear in it.

Nice artwork. At least it's not a Lord of the Rings rip-off like the Kingdom of Heaven artwork.
Hopefully it's an improvement on the film though, as I didn't feel this was anything special really. It was ok, but not the next Lord of the Rings as some people would have you believe.

I don't know why, but I just hate this artwork. It feels so cold and not at all narnian to me. I'll go for the R1 release as i'll get that one first.
motoko_jtw: I think the reason for this film being released as a four disc set is because a lot of people loved it. I know a lot of people saw it at least twice in theaters, me included. Disney also sold a HUGE number of DVDs of the 2-disc set as well as the regular widescreen and fullscreen releases, which normally indicates that it's a film worth investing some extra cash in to release a more exclusive DVD package for the fans.
But of course you have all the right in the world to think Narnia doesn't deserve a 4-disc release. That's your opinion. Just make sure you buy that 4-disc set of Kingdom of Heaven for God's sake!
I have both the R1 1-disc Widescreen release as well as R1 & R2 releases of the Special Two Disc Collector's Edition. (R2 has one more collector's card)

Can someone confirm is their some major difference between the 4 disc R1 and R2, I just looked at the details on here for the R1 and the art looks similar, I didn't notice anything major in the specs and the article I just looked at said the R1 is released in December which is after this, so I don't quite see the benefit of getting the R1 release in this instance?
No, the features seem to be all the same. Unfortunately, this means that all of us that already have the 2-disc set will basically be forced to buy the same thing again as the first two discs of this set are the same as those. Smart guys at Disney knows how to do this you know.
As for this being released before the R1 set; well, I can only speak for myself, but i'll probably be getting the R1 release before the 20th, but it's a tough call. The site I buy my DVD's from almost always send out the DVDs like 1-2 weeks before street date. I might get it before, might not. Doesn't really matter what region I buy.

any word on how long is the cut gonna be? nice cover though
I'm gonna buy it, I really was disappointed by the theatrical cut and I love the book so let's hope it's a big big improvement
I didn't get the 2-disc: I waited for this. So, ten extra minutes should fatten up a pretty much perfect children's film (look, it's not meant to be LOTR 2) anyway, plus some insight into dear old C.S. Lewis.

It's ten minutes of extra footage, so I guess that would make it 153 minutes. Press release says "New Extended Version Of The Film With Enhanced Special Effects And Extended Battle Scene", so a lot of those ten minutes will probably go into the battle. Maybe we'll se the burning minotaurs this time around? The worst that could happen would be that the PG would turn to PG-13. It's not likely that they'll finish that coronation dance scene for this dvd as Adamson says on the commentary that he felt they didn't need it and that it would feel like yet another ending on the ending, but it would sure be a nice surprise if it was there.
Off topic: Is that a young Malcolm McDowell there in that pic MR. Badass? He looks a bit like Skandar Keynes. (Edmund in LWW)

And that wins this weeks "I'll Drink To That" Award.

I waited for this andd the cover is not too bad except look at the way the classifications tend to take centre stage - I can't wait for the terrible R4 logos to completely destroy it!
I just hope they release this with a DTS-ES track....
