I hated the film, but it was hardly a "flop" as the main page says. Nearly $800 mil in ticket sales? Wish I could have a "flop" like that.
Jesus, have a sense of humour. It was a critical flop, so I made fun of it.
I think the main page remark was referring to its success with the critics. While many flocked to see it (a combination of the book's success and the controversy surrounding the film and book), the critics generally hated it for being a poor film by comparison with other films.
Edit: Looks like Chris just beat me to that comment.

For anyone wondering, the US release is announced on Monday.
From what's been announced in other countries so far, there'll be a single disc theatrical cut and a 2-disc extended cut (with audio commentary) and - in some cases - the gift set mentioned above. Should I be alarmed that this announcement makes no mention of the extended cut and the audio commentary?
Yeah, I know, who needs an extended cut.
I'm still wondering, though.
Yeah, I know, who needs an extended cut.
R2 gets it almost a month before R1, that sucks. And the cover art is okay I guess. But who really needs an extended cut, I found the film a bit too long, it could have easily been done in less than 2 hours but they dragged it on a bit thin, but I might buy the theatrical cut.
Horrible cover, horrible film. Extremely tedious, contrived piece of trash. The direction was bad and so was Tom Hanks. The story is so ludicrous that it still baffles me that some people still actually believe this. National Treasure was a much better film.
I loved the film, Can't wait to buy R1.
*I think the Mods should fix the front page, this film was huge! In no way a failure!

One of Hans Zimmer's best scores, hopefully the Academy will recognize it with an Oscar nod. A Golden Globe is certain. As for the movie, I actually thought it was not bad at all, some things didn't translate well from literature to film, but it wasn't trash like all the critics said it was.
It's allllll about the R3 gift set.
Well, Kaya, I agree, however I loved the Dead Man's Chest score even more! Hope he can get two nominations. He has to win an Oscar one of these days.
About the cover: It has to be one of the dullest most unimaginative covers ever! I bet this will be revised pretty soon.

I like the "Last Supper" background on the cover, but all the character heads in the center makes it seem too I Know What You Did Last Summer type of thing.
Its the R4 version for me at the moment, unless R1 gets the extended version too.
whats with all these R1 R2 R3 and R4? are you guys talking about the different covers that we've seen before?
Ridah, they are talking about different Gift-sets in different regions.. R4 gets a TIN BOX, R3 gets a VEEEERRYY deluxe gift box set and the rest common cases

In The Netherlands we get only a single disc who we share with Italy with only trailers and we get the 2-disc extended gift set with those features on disc 2 (I read nothing about a Audio commentary ).
A shame that we don´t get a 2 disc with features like the uk get and must do it with a single disc.

Why would people want an extended version? It was already an hour too long...
There are alot of infos about these dvs in Europe but what about US and Canada, cause I live in Canada id like to know if we are going to have all these different versions, id really like to have that big deluxe set
By the way is the deluxe set coming later, not in the same time has the normal dvd version?

I haven´t read nothing about a 1 disc extended version or a 2 disc extended who is avaible without the giftset. The only thing what I know on this moment is that we get 1-disc Theatrical

Version and a 2 disc extended Gift set.

how can this be considerd a flop wen it surly made over its budget wolrd wide
But the point whas, that iam a litle disapointed that we don´t get a 2 disc Theatrical version like the uk and I hope there change there mind and give us also 2 disc Theatrical edition.
i loved the film. I cant wait to get my copy. when does it hit R1 disc?
Hang on... a 'Preview of the Angels and Demons Movie'?! As far as I'm aware, it hasn't even been greenlit yet! And there certainly isn't a cast or director in place. Is this going to be one of those 'X3 preview on the Fantastic Four dvd' non-event kind of things?
I liked the book, but the movie just didn't work for me for some reason, which is really strange considering that the book was pretty much written with a movie adaptation already in mind, all the writers had to do is add stage directions to the text...
This is how it goes in Holland with The Da Vinci Code :
17-10 1-disc Extended Cut (Rental)
19-10 1-disc Theatrical Version (Retail)
19-10 UMD Theatrical Version (Retail)
19-10 Reveal Pack 2-disc Extended Cut (Retail)
..-11 The Da Vinci Code Blu-Ray (Retail)
07-12 2-disc Extended Cut (Retail)
07-12 Cryptex Pack with 2-disc Extended Cut (Retail)
They first force you to buy the reveal pack at 40 euro's or something and 2 months later you can buy the 2-disc set without the rest of the package.
