And expanding on Fox's example with Prometheus (by withholding extras for the 3DBD) Warner's are now excluding TDKR feature entirely. There's just going to be a disc of extras. If you want to see the film at home you'll need to buy an IMAX projector. In a statement, 'they' said "True fans of TDKR will see that we're not going to compromise their home viewing experience in this instance".
Can't really argue with that.

So does that mean they'll be no IMAX scenes on the Blu-ray like there was for TDK release?
Just pure speculation on my part but I can't see why they wouldn't do the 'opening out' to 16:9 for the IMAX footage. There is proportionately more IMAX footage in TDKR than there was in TDK, about an hour's worth so they'd be mad not to milk that from a marketing stand point.
Regarding whether the IMAX sequences will open up to 1.78 (like TDK BD), the back cover of the USBD seems to indicate that TDKR also has a variable aspect ratio, switching from 2.40:1 to 1.78:1 to accommodate the IMAX sequences. Generally, Warners seem to use the same versions for US and UK (FBI Warnings and all) so I'd say that it's as certain as it can be that the UKBD will have 1.78 IMAX footage.
