It's not so much that I looked for them as that, by chance, I saw them and, once you do, you keep spotting them! DVD and VHS are low enough quality that you can get away with it, but Blu is far less forgiving!
I consider the CGI additions to TVYNS to be pretty much artistic vandalism, but minor technical corrections such as cleaning up matte lines, jump cuts and wire removal for a new medium that will likely show more detail than the prints in your average cinema when the film was released, are justified IMHO!

I never noticed the wires, I dont think. I get so caught up in it every time I watch it that Ive never looked for them.
Oh, definitely the 1999 one! The jump cut is awful and the tiny morph effect is hardly a George Lucas monstrosity! On Blu, the jump would look awful and the piano wires would stand out appallingly! I'd favour best-looking over 'most faithful' on this one!

You hope its the original cut or you hope its the 1999 "original" cut?
Some of the extras sound lovely. I love the comparison of filming sites on "then and now" docos. Brilliant.

It's a no-brainer, really...

Are you sure the US release is limited with the 2 disc set. Haven't heard that at all. I know the 2 disc set in the US is a digibook but i have not heard its limited. Where did you hear that?

Which version are you boys going to get? The US or the UK?
"Why you do this?"

If it was a branching edition then they would probably use the timed master created for TVYHS. They did the same thing with limited success for the Star Trek Remasterd discs. You don't get the original episodes as implied, but instead you get remastered versions, cleaned up, retimed and contrast boosted with the option of an original mono track and effects shots left untouched. These aren't the original episodes but an amalgamation of the originals and the remasters. I hope the original Exorcist theatrical version IS the original and not TVYHS without the extra footage and effects.
You shouldn't worry about it, as you can bet your bippy that the "original version" will be just that, as this move is to placate those who were annoyed at the changes made 10 years ago. We think that the US copy has each cut on its own disc, so maybe you can draw conclusions from that?
Our dream Blu of The Exorcist would be the special edition, minus the stupid CGI effects, as they are utterly superfluous, with some looking like the Blue Meanies from Yellow Submarine, and the shot of Karras' mother's face at the end is just insulting, spoon-feeding the reason for his actions to the audience.
We'd also nix the spider-walk, as it flows better without it, and as much as it is wonderful in the book, we'd also lose the "beautiful friendship" ending, only because the missing dialogue renders it redundant.
Oh, and they really should put back the ol' "I've been on this f**king line" dialogue from Burstyn, as it provides a crucial link as to where she picked up some of her newfound bad language from...
...and PLEASE remove the s*dding wires this time!!! Don't give Repossessed the satisfaction.
