Wow....I forgot all about this movie! It was a childhood favorite of mine, right up there with other cult 80s horror films like Ghoulies,Critters, and Troll!
I'm so buying this
S**t I remember this. They need to give Dr. Giggles a BD Release.
Would be interested if this was a double feature with "Gate II"... or maybe that's slated for its own Monstrous Edition.
wish it was a BD release.
I don't think there are enough special features included for me to double-dip.
Great movie. Bad cover. Where's the Blu?
DEFINITE Buy for me, 2 problems, HATE the "Monsterous Special Edition" title, and the kid on the cover looks NOTHING like Stephen Dorff.

well its likely a better image and wasn't the old release full screen? so least thats worth the upgrade.

Great little movie but a real lousy cover. Saw this at the movies and those little creatures reminded me almost of featherless chooks at the time
Finally been waiting for a copy of this. Could never find this to download or anything. And the other dvd, I heard it was fullframe.
Worst. Cover. Ever.
Come to think of it, I can't remember a film cover that was redone without any of the actors that are in the film. The kids sandals didn't exist when this film came out! Jeez! That really makes me mad.

I've never seen this movie and had always felt like I should hearing such things about it, this seems like the opportunity.

I highly doubt that will happen anytime in the near future unfortunately...

that's all well and good but how hard would it have been to use a promotional photo or even a still of one of the actors that are actually in the movie. instead we get what is obviously a photo that was made recently. its bad enough he looks nothing like either actor but he isnt even dressed like anybody in the movie dresses.
i'm used to seeing c**ppy photoshop job covers but this is the first time i see them put a person on the cover that isn't even in the movie. if they reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaally wanted to use a nobody, they could have at least used a nobody's photo from 1987. or hell, just photoshop one of the actor's faces onto that body. lol

i guess you never saw the movie or forgot because they do fart fire.
and yeah, i wish they would have used that original poster as well. so simple and to the point and screams 80s.

I first saw this as a Rip from MonsternetHD. Great film. Good thing I saw it from MonsternetHD as it's also a good looking movie and deserves a quality release. Wish there was a blu announcement though.

So with every SD release the same question "wheres the blu ray" maybe the persons writing the articles should say right off the bat if there is a blu or not..
I think the features are pretty cool - the person handling this is also handling Night of the Creeps - that person is Michael Felsher. He has nothing to do with the cover art..I do like the old artwork better, maybe there are legal reasons that it couldnt be used
If you think the art here is bad, wait until Night of the Creeps...
Still if nothing else they are coming to DVD in special editions so we could be thankful for that

about the blu-ray question, it be hard for the writer to even answer. in some cases both are announced at the same time and eventually are released the same day so they can tell us that. but in other cases, the blu-ray doesn't come out until a year after the dvd release. the Child's Play collector edition is a good example of this.
as for Night of The Creeps, last i heard it will be coming out on both formats so thats one less article where people have to ask.
not sure how they decide what goes blu and what doesn't though. because they'll release the obvious ones and then they also release a bunch of catalogue releases that nobody ever expected to come out.
but yes, your last comment is what matters. blu or not, least they are being finally released on dvd or in the case of The Gate, getting a proper release. i may have switched to blu for my general purposes but i dont mind buying dvds in cases like these. sure i'll probably get screwed and a blu release will come in the near future (like what happend with Child's Play) but hey....c'est la vie when dealing with DVD. hey, i sorta rhymed.

but anyway this is one of those classics from my childhood. i always catch it whenever its on tv so it'll be nice to finally see it how i saw it in theaters back in the day. i'm so used to the c**ppy image and commercial breaks, it'll probably seem like a revelation.
i wonder which castmembers they got for interviews. be interesting to see if Al is still a hottie.
