Genius Products and The Weinstein Company has announced 1-disc ($29.95) and 2-disc ($32.95) editions of The Great Debaters which stars Denzel Washington, and Forest Whitaker. The film (which is also directed by Washington) will be available to own from the 13th May. The film itself will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras on the 2-disc will include a commentary, a documentary, some deleted scenes, featurettes, and a still gallery.

Here we go again with the 1 disc and 2 discs. I mean it's necessary to use it with big movies Spider man ect. But even with low budget films like Alien vs. predator 2 and Water horse? It's unnecessary.
I regret not seeing this movie in theaters as Denzel is my favorite actor. I just bought the 3-disc American Gangster edition, maybe I'll buy this too...
This movie looked OK, I might rent it at some point. I do agree, if they want to do a 2-disc edition, they should ONLY release a 2-disc.
Too bad this movie has little to do with debate--it's really just rhetoric.

This movie had no hype because it was mediocre at best, and didn't come close to Denzel's previous directorial effort "Antwone Fisher," which was a very well recieved "black movie." Denzel was also in the far superior American Gangster in 2007, which again was a "Black Movie." Finally, it didn't recieve a best picture nod because it's in no way in the league of the Flawless There Will Be Blood, the excellent No Country For Old Men, the Great Juno, Michael Clayton, and the very good Atonement!
Missed it in the theaters. Will buy it on release day. Every critic said Denzel was at the top of his game, as always, but I also want this for Jurnee Smollett. She has blossomed into a fine, young actress....
I'll give this a rent since I missed it in theaters. My dad wanted to see it.

If one of the special features is that they change the school they debated in the movie from Harvard to USC, the actual school they debated for the championship, I'll consider buying it.

I am avoiding this movie like the plague btw, I saw half of it and it looks like every other "underdog that wins in the end" turd thats out there, atleast Karate Kid had fighting! (hows that for second stupidest?)
