Very nice, will definatley be picking this up as I never got the first version.
The artwork is very nice, very Shawshank Redemption-yish.

"The Teaser Trailer: A Case Study"?
Sounds interesting...

That art is gorgeous.
It actually manages to beat the Shawshank art. And that was some amazing art, too.

Wait a minute. Did they cut some of the film out?
Cause the movie's 188 minutes and the case says it's 169 min.

Very nice art, looks like a purchase.
Probably just a typo William
Very nice. I will probably pick this up. Be interesting to see if the UK has a 3 disc like they did with Shawshank or be the same as this. Just glad to not have a snapper case for this film, though I sold that off a long while ago. I knew they would eventually have a better release.
What are you people talking about? That's an awful cover! I hate the "the bigger the star - the bigger the head"-covers.
Nice to see this excellent film get the special treatment though.

The coverart is disappointing. I was hoping for the more iconic outline shot of Coffey and Edgecomb shadows stretching down the cell block.
No thanx, I will stick to my R2 single disc
Sounds good, I'll get it.
great film...one of the best all time....i love every second of it....finaly movie gets a good edition...any news about R2 Edition ??????
finally. I cant wait to get this. I love the art expect for the little WB logo in the corner, if they got rid of that it would be perfect. ill be picking this up.
I like the cover, love the movie, and for some odd reason, I don't have it, so I shall be adding this to my collection.

i noticed that also... would it be just a typo when it's on the officially released back cover art work?? Thats 19 minutes missing!
I like the cover art also... much like the cover art of the Shawshank special edition

Dang, my Christmas list keeps growing by the minute
I have the single disk of this, but will be upgrading. One of my top 5 films of alltime. I will never forget the experience of watching this with an audience. It is one of the few times when silence is actually a good thing. The audience was absolutely floored by the film. People had to gather their thoughts for a few minutes and then when we were all outside the talking started.
Another performance by Hanks that is acting school 101. Great stuff.

Finally! Sadly, this one should have come out many years ago... But, I'll take it.
That cover art is smoooooth. Very 80's.
Have yet to watch this one...must buy for me. And look it's not a snapper!

A R2 edition was announced a few months back.

This cover sure looks like it was painted by Drew Struzan, the artist who did Shawshank Spec.Ed.
He also did the Star Wars prequels and Spec.Ed. posters.
As well as Back to the Future, Big Trouble in Little China, The Goonies, The Thing, just to name a few.............

I really like that artwork and this is one of my all-time favorite movies, but I already have the single disc version and I just don't see enough incentive here to replace it. I'm tired of double-dipping. I'm just tired of it.
I've been holding off on this purchase for a while until this came out. I'm glad that I did, the cover perfectly matches Shawshank and the extras (while not abundant) appear to fit the bill. A definite purchase.
Yeah whats up with the 169 min. The film is supposed to be over 3 hours long as I recall. Did they really cut something from this new edition, if they did I will stick to the old regular version at least its 188 min long
Beautiful. Definitely gonna pick this one up. Studios, take note. Invest a little in a quality product and see how the masses respond.
I knew this was coming, and that artwork is easily one of the nicest pieces of art to ever be used for a DVD cover. They don't make many posters or covers like that anymore (damn photoshop).
Looks good to me and will pick it up on day one as it is one of my all-time favorites! I think the art is great also!
