Did everybody just got stupid?! sucked? awfull? Are you guys serious? This incredible movie had bad reviews? I can believe i am hearing this... It was 1 of the best movies I have seen this year, not that c**p that some cut hands, heads etc that only disterbed people will see...
The R2 (UK) release comes in single and 2-disc versions. Apparently the 2-disc includes an extended Director's Cut, plus the same extras included on the R1. Didn't bother with it at the cinema as had such universally bad reviews. Will rent when it arrives on these shores 3rd November.
I'm One Of The Few That Actually Liked This, I Hope To Be Picking Up The Blu-Ray.
ok guys, it's a waste of time to fight about this... like i said before, we discuss movies, we cant fight with eachother just cuz someone thinks the opposite... k? so, chill out... and dont call ppl idiots...
well, let me do a timeline for M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN's movies
1999's "THE SIXTH SENSE" (A+) - his best really... after this
2000's "UNBREAKABLE" © - i watched this movie once... and i was really sleepy, but im gonna give it a second chance today...
2002's "SIGNS" (B+) - well, this was good, not the best movie of its year, but just good...
2004's "THE VILLAGE" (C-) - it had a nice beginning, but the ending was awful...
2006's "LADY IN THE WATER" (C-) - i hated it... sucked, and was really boring... a total disapointment...
and finally...
2008's "THE HAPPENING" - i have not seen this, it didnt get my attention from the trailers...
SO, all im saying, just dont call each other idiots...

Horrible film. Could of pass as a Comedy.
From the worlds most ego-tastic director comes a movie that is pure Shamalama-o-rama! Chocked full of lame characters! Horrible dialogue! And a premise so thin, you could easily cram it into c**ppy music video!!
I didn't like this movie so I am an idiot? I have my own opinions therefore I must be of lower intelligence? I had high expectations of this movie because of the marketing (they always market it as horror, and this one had OMG LOOK ITS R RATED!!!! screaming at you in every promotion, which was never actually justified by the very PG-13 almost PG movie). Of course, I feel foolish for trusting ANY sort marketing for an M whatever movie, I will never do so again because they are always extremely false. M night continually disappoints because at one time he proved to me he CAN be a great director, but everything else went down hill after that so I have to accept he was a one movie wonder, or that it was just a fluke and he is just plain not good IMO.

Word of advice, holmes: before you call someone a moron in a public forum simply for enjoying something you don't - in this case, something so inconsequential as a movie - you may want to at least check your own grammar and spelling first...You know, just in case you come off sounding like a complete imbecile yourself (it's counter-productive to your credibility, you see)
And here's a bonus tidbit: Think before you post! The internet allows us to be anonymous in name, but unfortunately it doesn't do anything to mask asinine intelligence.

Decent Blu cover. Might get it.
Simply another case of the trailer was better than the movie

love the artwork!
No. I liked it too...Everyone else here needs to have an open mind...its not about what you watched,..its about the thought process...what if something like this really happened? It makes us think and M. Night really shows his perspective in the movie...
I would have liked the story to go a little slower than it actually was...the only stupid part (SPOILER) was when they showed that guy getting his arm bitten off by lions...too much like Signs

It's nowhere near as bad as Meet the Spartans, but it's still c**p. I don't expect anything from anyone, I take each film as it comes. If a director makes a good film there's no guarantee that their follow-up is going to be decent. I don't feel let down or disappointed by this film, but it still sucks. Everything he's made since Unbreakable has sucked, and I wasn't that keen on his first two films. If his next picture is amazing I'll be happy to praise it, but people defending him and using phrases like 'hating on' (seriously, are you five years old?) are, quite frankly, only good for a laugh. This is especially true of those with demonstrably piss poor taste in films. 'If you hate this film you hate plants and by proxy the Earth!. Honestly...
still love the fact their keeping the theatrical poster as the BD cover. Hell yes! and as a SE? Blu for me!

Check again. It was an R rated movie released at the same time with The Incredible Hulk, not to mention facing competition with Kung Fu Panda and the fact that LitW made only $40 million domestically and the fact that this film made $64 million domestically and about $150 million worldwide with a budget of $60 million is not that bad.

People complain about remake and sequels and here comes a movie that is actually original and unique and people hate it. How do you people expect to like an original movie if you can't handle the simple fact that nature can fight back?! It's not such a hard concept to grasp! Monsters, 2 feet dolls, ghosts, a killer video tape, Godzilla, King Kong, snakes on a plane, etc are much more ridiculous than nature fighting back if you actually think about it!!!! Really, I wonder where this world would head to....I just hate you ignorant people who think it's cool to bash on M. night because it's a fad right now.
I'm not going to argue with you because frankly, this is just getting ridiculous. I'm not hating on M. Night Whoever because it's a fad (according to you, anyway). I'm hating on him because I had high expectations for this movie and he didn't deliver. Not that much of a shocker, really. I mean, you do remember Lady in the Water, right? Or did you like that, too? Tsk-tsk. Yes, you continue to praise M. Night as if he's some sort of God. And you waste your money to see his films (if he makes anymore after this tripe) at the theater and then buy them on DVD. Face it, your precious director made a bad movie. No, wait, he made 3 bad movies.
Read what I said again: Why would you have such high expectations when you hated his last three films? People have different opinions and I liked all of his films and what's wrong about that? It's not my fault you like remakes, sequels, and superhero films.
Last TWO, actually. And I don't care that you liked 'The Happening', but I'm just saying that most people absolutely hated it. Go over to IMDb.com and see what rating it has. 5.4. Even lower than Lady in the Water. That's saying something, isn't it? And, yes, I might like a few remakes and sequels, but at least I don't like c**ppy movies like you.

I loved six sense... he should have stopped making movies then, and PLEASE at least stop advertising them as anything like horror or thriller or suspense. They get more redundant, more predictable, and more boring with each movie. Personally, it didn't have to be that gory or bloody, but come on they made this HUGE deal about it being "R" Rated, and literally there was nothing R rated about it. Stop trying to make every movie of his try to look like something it's not, in other words, stop making people think it MIGHT actually be good.

Meet the Spartans was worse. Seriously the acting wasn't bad. Yeah just because the plants can talk you think that's stupid? You think nature is the enemy is stupid? Let me tell you something. People should really take care of our plants and really they should respect. The film has suspense, scares, and was insanely scary. I'm still standing up for The happening.

Totally agree. I actually like all of M. Night's movies, but this one really disappointed. Love the actors, love the director, absolutely love the artwork, but unfortunately didn't like the movie.

The nail in the Coffin? Probably not with the lack of any creativity coming out of Hollywood these days. Someone will hire this hack again. Four terrible movies in a row, why not go for five?

In my opinion, this has been not only the worst film of the year, but also the biggest disappointment. I put a lot of faith in M. Night walking into the theatre, and I still feel cheated by the experience.

Was expecting more out of this, a disappointing movie. Not an awful one, but definitely one of his weakest. Maybe a bit better than Signs though.
Not my thing so PASS!
This was a good idea, with a nice set up, but beyond that it was god awful. The only good thing about it was Wahlberg doing the same thing he did in I Heart Huckabees and this was only for the comedy value. This movie was a disaster that just kept getting more and more bad as it plodded along.
WORST SCRIPT EVER. WORST ACTING EVER. WORST MOVIE THIS YEAR. HORRENDOUS.
The art is boring too.

This movie was a total waste of 2 hours. No thanks.
And you thought The Wicker Man remake was unintentionally hilarious...

Well, based on subjective probability and statistics, I think it's safe to assume you probably aren't...still, if you truly did figure this one out from the beginning then I applaud you (no sarcasm intended). You, sir, occupy rarified air in my book...I consider myself pretty savvy when it comes to predicting and deciphering the plots of original (non-recycled) thrillers and suspense flicks (as an aspiring novelist within the genre myself, part of me can't help but filter movies through the imaginative lens of a writer) but honestly, I didn't have the slightest inkling with that one. It completely blew me away...
As far as defending my stance on the superior quality of the story, you also have to keep in mind that when The Sixth Sense came out, waaaay back in '99, the "twist ending" was not yet the commonality it's been for nearly every thriller since the dawn of the new millennium. Though there were obviously films prior to Shyamalan's debut with truly memorable twist endings (dur!), I think one can legitimately make the argument that The Sixth Sense - along with such terrific 90's fare as Se7en, The Usual Suspects, 12 Monkeys and Fight Club - helped to make the "twist ending" into the over-used, virtually prerequisite genre cliche it is today.

I don't think it gives too much of the plot away to say "mood rings" laughingly. Oh...

Beat me to it.
I kinda liked the movie. The kills, I mean, the dialogue was embarassing.

For an R rated movie, this could -- scratch that -- SHOULD have been much more bloody/gory...
This movie was a laugh riot! I hope the M. Night's intro is anapology.

love the artwork!
Yeah, the story BEHIND it is interesting, but the stuff we're shown is pure garbage. But I do agree, the story is very intriguing, and that's the only reason I didn't leave the theater. But then when I found out why the things were 'happening,' I almost left again, terrible resolution, because there was none.

I never noticed the twist at all, it came as a shock to me. I just did not pick up on the reaccuring themes on the first viewing.

Seriously? They were okay films at best. I can't be the only person in the world to spot the twist in the Sixth Sense almost immediately?
As for The Happening, it's truly dire. Mark Wahlberg was so wooden I though he was one of the trees.

The cover is AWESOME but the movie was HORRIBLE. Should I buy this movie just for the case, lol? I don't like M. Night Shamaylafjksdfjlsjfljlsdjklsdf movies but I did like his Lady In The Water for some reason.....
this is a very odd little movie. i enjoyed it because it was a throw back to paranoid sci-fi mysteries of the 70s, and it was also something original and not just another remake or sequel. but this is a very difficult film for the average filmgoer. it takes patience and an open mind to embrace it.
there are worse films out there, trust me.

I liked this movie. I'm just....well, angry that a lot of people hated it because of the hate around M. Night and that it's the "cool" thing to do right now. Just so stupid of people. This was actually a good film and people like The Incredible Hulk? Pulease...
Oh, there are a MULTITUDE of films far worse than this...but comparing strictly against the other films on his resume, it certainly didn't buck the downward trend of his last few films...
Worst movie of the year. I would even go as far to say that this was worse than "One Missed Call". I can't even believe this movie was made, let alone made over $60 million in theaters. Just when you think this world was bad enough...
Great Cover, I didn't think the film was totally bad though - the first 20-25 mins definitely shown promising potentials, but the rest of the film failed miserably to materialize upon those potential.
THE HAPPENING is Shyamalamadingdong's B-movie, and I thought it worked. His ego got the best of him with THE VILLAGE and LADY IN THE WATER, and THE HAPPENING was a way of saying "look, I'm not pretentious anymore." It contained no jump-scares, no twist, and was constructed like an episode of the "twilight Zone." But critics bash him again, this time I suspect just because they had already decided too before the film even came out. Oh well.
I'm not saying it's a good movie... I'm just saying it wasn't necessarily bad either. People calling it terrible, a waste of celluloid, and one of the worst films ever obviously haven't seen many bad films.

I missed this at the theatres, but heard bad things. I'll rent it.
What happened?
Can't wait. I love the premise of an unseen evil. I'll check it out as part of my Halloween marathon.
I was rooting for this, I wanted it to be good, but aside from the opening with everyone offing themselves (which is the only thing that fox sold in the ads) it just got SO STUPID. No matter how you shoot it, WIND IS NOT SCARY. Ugh! Shyamalan wasted so much of his talent with this. Return to form please!
I've never seen such a promising talent slide so quickly down the slopes of mediocrity...And to think after The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable we were ready to crown him this generation's Hitchcock...Sadly, every movie he's made has gotten consistently and considerably worse...

i dont know about this, but i'll check it out... 4 sure
I see a Sixth Sense sequel...
I enjoyed this film. I HATED Lady in the Water, but loved Sixth Sense, Signs and The Village. This movie did have some terrible writing, but it was not as terrible as some made it out to be. Blu-ray buy for me!
I'll blind buy. I've enjoyed all hsi movies from The Sixth Sense to Lady in the Water.
Haven't seen it.
But I had lost faith in M. Night Shamalamadingdong long ago.
So I am not surprised at all about the negativity surrounding this film.

Call me crazy but... I loved it! It was so stupid, so over the top that it actually worked out. Definite buy... for me at least.
A gag reel? Isn't that the movie itself?
I'll rent this, but after all the bad reviews, I don't have very high expectations.
I will only puke on this movie. Not see it.
Well at least they kept the movie poster as the artwork. Nice choice but bad movie overall. I was really hoping this would make up for the previous movie, Lady in the Water. Sadly, I was wrong.
one of the worst movies I have ever seen
C'mon Fox, the movie sucked, at least give us good artwork.
SUCKED SUCKED SUCKED!!!
There should be a feature on here where M. Night apologizes for letting his ego run rampant making this c**p.
