I thought it was fantastic. Not quite Jaws good, but I can't think of many other monster movies that rival it.
Really like that 2 disc cover art. I already have the R@ HMV exclusive so I'm good. Movie wasn't that good. I found the characters annoying but the monster was sweet.
wow, surprisngly the artworks for both versions are WAY much better than the R2UK artwork AND the HMV exclusive.
Good looking artwork for the 2-disc, I am still hating that poster art though.
Crikey HD really must be here if they're releasing foreign language (Oscar winners aside) on HD. It's great to "finally" see.
Great news, have the Korean edition and really want to get a hold on the HD version.
Mediocre SpielbergFan??!!This is The Monster Movie Hollywodd hasn't got the balls for.Fun,complex and hugely satyrical.
But agree Jaws is better(hey,I'm a Spielberg fan myself)
Let's hope they release HD audio as well for the originla language.Seriously, who watches dubbed films, don't they know how to read?

Magnolia are essentially the early adopters of the distribution world, so I wouldn't really call this significant in that respect. Otherwise you would also be saying that same day: theatrical, DVD and VOD releases are the norm too.

really wanted to go see this film, didn't makeit though. can't wait to see it, i might even do a blind buy if it's worth it.
cant wait to see this! i will def pick it up!
Haven't got this, but aim to buy the Korean LE - the best lookin set of all for this movie - hope it doesn't run out before I get my hands onto it
Love the film and the director. I think I'll just troll on down to Chinatown for this and Election 2 (I prefer original cover art).
Heard a lot of good things about this one. Most likely a blind buy for me.
love both covers!
i might get the 2 discs
i might get the 2 discs
already bought a bootleg on ebay. sorry assholes. after like 2 years and a s**tty copout limited release, i wasn't going to wait anymore.
I've heard some great things about this one, definitely worth a rent...

I did that also, but I am still going to be getting the 2-disc. I want to support this fantastic film.

What no Korean + Sub ... WTF.. NO buy from me if it's not in it's original (say this because the ad say ENGLISH DUB Only.. but B13 has the Original French + Sub.. so..)
Good movie. I already own the R2 UK version. The extras are well worth watching.
Superb 2-disc cover art! I liked the film, but will not be buying.
Amazon's listing has both dub and sub.
the 2 disc cover looks good.
Enjoyable flick. The Korean film industry has some of the best modern films coming out of it from all the countries in Asia.

Dvdfromkorea has it re-stocked if you order it now you'll get it!

because of that 1 disc edition art, which was also the poster over here, i thought this was about some giant squid like or least a tentacled monster....its only when i saw clips on tv that i realized it was more an alligator/lizard type thing....how rude of them to sorta lie but not really..lol
Note: Like most Korean DVDs, the Korean 3-Disc LE has no subtitles on almost all of its extras (I think the short film "Sink and Rise" is the only one that does).
I thought this movie was HUGELY overrated. I went in expecting the horor film to be reinvented the way critics and fans made it sound.
It was an OK film that is hampered by being a good 30-40 minutes too long. I just never knew what style they were going for...at times it was slapstick comedy and at other times it was camp extravaganza. No one is saying they couldn't have it both ways but it seemed like the filmmakers couldn't decide.
Effects wise it is pretty stellar until an effect in the final 10 minutes. Everyone who has seen it knows exactly the shot I'm referring to.
Is it a blind buy for people? No WAY! Rent it first and then decide.

Hm. I blind bought the Korean Gift set and wasn't disappointed.
If I want to have a movie on DVD it needs to have at least a few scenes I want to see again... and again... and again...
I own a lot of DVD's from movies which have a less-than-stellar reputation (far worse than this one in any case) for that reason alone, the rewatchability of a couple of scenes.
And based on that alone, the big "reveal" in the first few minutes is worth the price of the DVD by itself. I must have replayed that sucker a hundred times at least, easily one of the most ambitious special effects shots in the last few years (especially for the budget they were working with).
Seeing as how the company that did those effects is an American one i had no trouble following those extras related to the effects on the Korean DVD.
And yes I have some trouble with the ending as well and yes, the final fight takes too long and the fire doesn't look as good as the rest of the film, but rewatching it I liked the fact that the monster gets a fair amount of screentime all of a sudden. That, and Song Kang-Ho vs. the monster rocks.
By the way, after the initial shock this movie grew on me after multiple watches. The whole point of the movie is that even a bunch of total losers could've easily saved the day in 5 minutes if they wouldn't have been ignored (and later sabotaged) at every turn by every single person they meet. Bong Joon-ho basically tears Korean society a new one by showing it to be a bigger monster than the predator lurking in its sewers.

It's a great film - got the R2 2-disc but the R1 artwork is SO much better - grrr!

No way! This was incredibly mediocre.
