The Human Centipede (US - DVD R1 | BD RA)
We've updated our news item with the final artwork for the DVD and Blu-ray
Title: The Human Centipede (IMDb)
Starring: Dieter Laser
Released: 5th October 2010
SRP: $29.98 (DVD)
Further Details:
IFC Films and MPI Media Group has announced DVD ($29.98) and Blu-ray ($34.98) releases of The Human Centipede for October 5th. Extra material will include an audio commentary with director Tom Six, a deleted scene, a making of featurette, alternate posters, and the trailer. We've attached the official package artwork for each of the releases below:

Quote: The compelling simplicity of “Saw.” The stylish dread of “Eraserhead.” The black humor of “A Nightmare On Elm Street.” Those are the benchmarks of horror that the outrageous Dutch film The Human Centipede matches. The plot is diabolically simple: two stranded American tourists are given shelter by a famed German doctor (a maniacally intense Dieter Laser) who made his fortune surgically separating conjoined twins. Now his mad genius is pushing the doctor to do the reverse. He tells the women that they will be surgically attached to a Japanese businessman – mouth to buttocks, one after the other – and thus will be born a new creature: the human centipede! Compellingly perverse, hilarious, and shockingly straightforward, Dutch director Tom Six’s new film is hands-down the most memorable horror film of the year.

That'd be funny if the Redbox plot was:
"A doctor who makes a human centipede a fun and wacky experience for the whole family." and since its NR, Redbox will probably not have the R-Rated Warning.

What's even scarier is that there is a porn parody about to be released of this movie....
I had heard a lot of talk about this movie but never saw a trailer until I watched the movie TORMENTED the other night. It looks so sick and twisted. I want to see it
. I'm sure it won't be easy to watch at times, but I can't help it. I love horror movies and my curiosity about this one is piqued. I'll check it out on Blu-ray
.

But what about the plot synopsis and the genre horror? Doesn't Redbox give those?

I would laugh if I heard someone say "I want the Human Centipede on Blu-ray! not DVD!" I know Blu-ray has better quality P/A wise, but since this movie looks so utterly disgusting, I would probably rent the DVD.

Just goes round my head over and over when I see something about this movie. To be fair to Katsuro, he does try holding his bowels for as long as humanly possible and apologises profusely to Lindsay when he knows he's about to... um... void.
I don't see what the big deal is about this movie. I rented it from Demand one night with my cousin and we stared at each other wondering why it is controversial.
Unrated Directors Cut! Sounds nice.
Oh, the looks people are going to get when they rent/buy this...
Apparently 'The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence)' which is out next year will feature a 12 person centipede, can't wait

If anyone wants to see this film, FULLY aware of the plot, and is actually ENTERTAINED by the script, they are inhuman. I know horror is horror, but let's face it. "Halloween" is a horror film. "The human centipede" is an extended version of 2 girls 1 cup. No thank you.
They don't eat excrement throughout the entire film, do they? It's probably within a minute or two. I'll argue that all or many films are entertainment, one way or another. For this film, one can watch it to be horrified, thrilled, and disgusted. (Even for dark humour, as I've heard.) You don't have to think like a madman to enjoy a film like this. Otherwise, you can say people are inhuman for being entertained by The Silence of the Lambs.

It already has, (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1273235/releaseinfo) unless you're referring to DVD and Blu-ray releases.

TBH, this movie was TERRIBLE! The only redeeming value about it was how ridiculous it was. Seriously, this movie only worked as a comedy.
I actually don't think it is that well known outside of the interent. A few guys I work with suddenly wanted to see it because Tosh.o did a thing on it.

Google it. People have been all over this flick for a while now.

I am really tempted to see this movie. It's like an open secret really. And I don't think I have seen a movie like the Human Centipede. I mean, I've watched gross movies like Meet the Feebles, but that was intentionally over the top as black humor.
This seems more like the movies where helpless victims are trapped by an evil person and falls into the category of movies like Saw, Hostel, etc., none of which I have seen, save the first Saw.
I prefer my horror to be Zombies, but I think the horror that really stayed with me this year was Antichrist. I still don't know if I want to watch it again or not. And the fact that Criterion is putting out a release later this year is even more tempting!

Sick. Fresh idea but disgusting movie. Any Saw movies are better than this.
Disgusting movie. Saw it for free and have no intention of buying it or watching it again. The villain was really good though and the 2 lead girls were bad when reciting any dialogue, but were pretty believable in the scenes that involved terror. Would not recommend this as a blind buy.
I'm interested in seeing this film for the sake of curiosity. I don't think Roger Ebert has refused to give a film a star rating and not mention his opinion on it since Pink Flamingos in 1972. The Human Centipede played at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, last week, but I chose to see the remake of I Spit on Your Grave, which was still disturbing.

One messed-up movie. I saw it via OnDemand. The villain is great.
Agh I've seen the trailer and it's stuck in my head ever since. Even more so after reading the wikipedia article on it. GAAAHHh The phrase "When Katsuro defecates, Lindsay is forced to swallow his excrement and the doctor watches with great delight." Just goes round my head over and over when I see something about this movie.

With THC, Antichrist and The Killer Inside Me, I'm sort of curious what IFC's distribution pattern looks like when it comes to controversy.

If you've seen it once, though, there's absolutely no reason to see it again.
that applies to just about every movie, whether its relating to gore or action or even humor. movies are never as "insert word here" as everyone claims. but thats especially true of horror, maybe i've become desensitized to horror by watching since i was 4 or 5 but i always come out disappointed to these sorta movies with all the hype and/or disgust of how gross they are. i mean disappointed by how gross they are, not necessarily how good the movie itself is.
although with this movie i've read enough to know its not very visual, its just the implications of what you know is happening or being done thats gotten to people so if i ever see this i'll know what to expect.

This movie was so damn weird. Might grab on Blu
The trailer alone made me sick to my stomach. Not the type of film I am into.
