I REALLY wanted to see this but it came and went in my town so fast. Will definitely rent, perhaps even blind buy due to all the good I heard about it.

Yeah, day one buy here. Loved this movie. Definitely in my top 10 for the year. That box art is pretty good too.
Was gonna see it, but saw The Collector instead. I thought that would have a set date by now.
Definitely going to blind buy. I love Kathryn Bigelow's work, Near Dark is an all time favorite.
Tense as hell, pushing hard to watch some scenes, a fascinating, perfect film.

I'm highly interested in this film. I should have seen this in theaters but will probably get it before the Award season starts.
LOVED this movie. Took FOREVER to get announced. Will be buying on blu asap.
Day 1. Heard nothing but great things about this film.
I love Kathryn Bigelow's work (although THE WEIGHT OF WATER bored me to tears), and the trailers for this looked great. Maybe that led me to too high expectations, but THE HURT LOCKER was quite a disappointment to me. While I was expecting some kind of documentary-like narrative, the story felt too easy and too close to Hollywood standards, the characters' motivations were trite almost to the point of TV-movies. And it seemed like Bigelow was somewhat out of her element, the movie didn't ring true, it was as though she were trying to mimick other directors' look and feel.
Even so, a failed, near-miss Bigelow is much better than most, so definitely worth your time, anyway. And I guess it will sound great at our home theaters.

I loved this film. Day one purchase on blu for sure.
I actually forgot about this movie. Never had the chance to see it. Will think through it first.
One of the year's best films. It has Oscar written all over it. I was absolutely blown away. First day pickup for sure.

My favorite movie of the summer/ year. Thrilling, realistic and a real shocker. I left this film with symptoms of PTSD I swear. This film makes you feel the stress of being a soldier in a country where you aren't welcome. Great cover art too.

Easily taking multiple awards on Oscar night
i wanted to see it, and for some reason i never did, i might do a rare blind buy on this one if it is that good a movie

No, it won't. Decent film at best, worth a one time watch but something I'd never visit again. There were far better movies this year than Hurt Locker. It was a bit overhyped. I personally found the Ralph Fiennes cameo to be more exciting.

Amazing movie. But is there really such thing as a perfect movie? I wouldn't know how to tell.

There is such a thing as a perfect movie. A film that can keep you not only glued to the screen, but connecting with what is going on at an emotional/exciting level is a perfect film. Especially if the said film has you sitting at the edge of your seat and you forget where you are. At least this is how I gauge it. Of course the film has to have a beginning, middle and end in any order. As well as a satisfying conclusion.

I wouldn't say the ending has to be satisfying, it just has to be fitting. For example, I think No Country For Old Men is a perfect movie (or at least the closest any movie has been to perfect in the past decade) and I find it hard to associate the word "satisfying" with the end of that movie, though the end is very fitting thematically. Just my $.02
As for the Hurt Locker, aside from the amazing action I loved the perspective the director had towards the story. At the beginning there is a quote that says "war is a drug". Seeing a movie that was about the rush of war was very refreshing (especially after something like Stop-Loss) and it was never too preachy.

Missed it in the theaters. Anthony Mackie, one of my favorite young actors at the moment, was in this. Will blind-buy to see what all the fuss was...
While i was watching it i couldn't help but think, "hey he's that f----r from National Lampoons Senior Trip".
