After a terrific pilot (a damn good piece of television with three-dimensional characters and an emotional ending which really packs a wallop) the show settled into just being a rehash of The Fugitive, with Banner substituting Kimble, McGee being Gerard and the Hulk as the one-armed man.

There were other substantial and emotional episodes scattered throughout, including one where Banner was convinced that the Hulk killed some kid, and was torn apart and attempting suicide. The two part episode where he lost his new bride was another tear-jerker. While the majority of the series was repetitive, Bixby always sold the character, and it was a pleasure watching him on screen every week. I still get choked up everytime he has to leave town at the end of every episode, leaving behind any friendships he may have made...walking down the street, tiny duffle bag in sling with what little possessions he has, as drivers pass him up and that sad piano tune plays as the credits roll. Excuse me while I curl into a fetal position.

that piano finale will always remind me of Stewie's riff on it from Family Guy. they ruined it for me. lol
On time for the movie...oh, and that Stewie parody, EXCELLENT!
Big fan of the series. I concur that I always got choked up when Banner had to pack his bags with the "Lonely Man" theme playing in the background during the end credits.
The best episode of these 2 seasons being released is by far "Prometheus" where Banner gets stuck in mid transformation because of a meteor rock and the Hulk gets mistaken for an Alien. That was a really powerful episode.
I had the opportunity to meet Kenny Johnson, the creator and Producer of this series, and he is such a class act.

I had high hopes for the new movie, but after seeing the trailer, everything BUT the Hulk looks great. I wish they would figure out a way to either CGI him life-like or come up with makeup. I think CGI has killed the art of practicle effects and even the masters of today's makeup have lost their touch. Surely someone from Weta, Baker or another effects house could come up with something better than these video game looking characters.
On topic, loved this show. Will get the full series once they are all out.

I agree LLcruize with the 'new' Hulk...take that all of you Hulk (the first movie) bashers! ILM had it right, and you screwed it...this movie IS going to suck...

What's with the art for season 3? The body is from the Trial of the Incredible Hulk movie but the head is from a promo photo from season 1. I'm sure I'm the only one that will notice but it's a horrible photoshop job where the head meets the neck.
How come you guys are reporting the release date as April 29th but tvshowsondvd.com is reporting a June 3rd release date?

I could not agree with you more there. As a standalone piece of TV, that pilot was one of the best ever in terms of scope, storyline, characters and emotion. Superb. The series couldn't ever hope to match the pilot in quality over 4 years.

What about the 2 part episode called "The First?"
the evil Hulk or Fryes Creature scared the c**p out of me when I was a kid back in the early 80's
could not sleep for weeks after that show

I cant wait to get these. One day I will watch them all one after another...
I met Lou at Wondercon last month. Cool nice guy, but 20.00 for an autograph...yikes

Looks like Banner is being raped by the Hulk...
I think the First was in Season 5 part of that shortened Season as the show was ended.
I like the 2 parter 2 and yes Fryes Creature is scary as hell, actually even midway transformation is still a scary face to look at..
I think it was done like that because evil is scary, so they made the evil Hulk scary. Looking back now, Dick Durock - Swamp Thing was Frye Hulk and it looked like a slim fast Hulk, diet Hulk LOL

That cover for Season 3 is pretty funny. I think that if Banner straightened up, he might actually be as tall as the Hulk.
it looks Banner is saying come on Hulkie I can take it, thats one part of your body that wasnt affected by radiation
LOL
Seriously, the 2 parter with the First is Season 4 during the later half of the Season...so its on the Season 4 set.

Season 3 cover is weird, lol...
Why is the release date still being listed as April 29th when the press release and Amazon.com has a June 3rd release date?
I am really looking forward to these releases. I actually re-watched Seasons 1-5 on the Sci-Fi channel about 10 years ago, but I want to re-visit them again uncut since I know a few minutes were probably cut on the Sci-Fi re-airs.
I own season 1 and 2 and I am surprised at the decent quality of the bonus material. I am looking forward to the commentary on "Prometheus" which I consider the best 2 hours of TV from the series.

The collectible lenticular packaging is a nice idea, but true that the artwork on season 3 looks..messed up. Amazing variety on the menus - there's Bill Bixby, and...Bill Bixby, OH - and Bill Bixby!
This show was fantastic when I was a kid - remember taping it or borrowing it from friends, never saw many episodes overall. Maybe I'll revisit the old memories some day.
