Warner Home Video has announced DVD ($28.98) and Blu-ray ($35.99) releases of The Informant! which stars Matt Damon. Each will be available to own from the 23rd February. The only extra feature on the DVD release will be deleted scenes. The Blu-ray release will include the deleted scenes, along with a commentary with Director Steven Soderbergh and Screenwriter Scott Burns, and a digital copy of the film. We've attached a trade advertisement with some early package artwork below:

This Blu-ray/DVD combo is rather annoying. Surely, you're not gonna need/want two copies of the same film. You didn't see DVDs coming with "a bonus VHS copy of the movie!"
DTS-HD for this? Oh yes!!! Very likely now that Warner has completely made a 360 degree turn when it comes to DTS soundtracks.
I like the BD/DVD combo idea a lot. I buy BDs all the time and my friends and family can't borrow them, it's annoying.

Well in case if you aren't aware, it's actually both. A Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combo Pack.
And yes, I actually do like the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combos, too. I had to get rid of my digital copies because most of them were filling up my space on my desktop and most of them can be viewed off of Netflix or I don't need them. Other than that with the Blu-Ray/DVD Combos. I actually like how I can use them wherever I go, in case if I'm traveling and all I need is a portable DVD player (have one of those). I also have another DVD player up in my country house and a DVD player on my desktop as well and I only have a Blu-Ray player where where I currently am now, so I can leave the BD disc behind and use the DVD to wherever I go. Saves money that way and I can enjoy everything myself.
I won't worry about increasing the price. I got Up and Night at the Museum 2 for no more than 20 bucks on Amazon and I am very happy about it.
But in a case for this movie, not sure about this one. If I'm really in the mood then I'll possibly wait till it comes out on cable or something.

I don't think it's trying to persuade ppl at all. Like the others said, not all blu ray owners have a player in each room, but, most certainly have SDVD players in each room. With these combo packs, we can finally watch them wherever we want. On the go, at a friend or family members house who don't own blu ray.
One of the best movies I have seen this year. I thought Damon's performance is worthy of an Oscar, and Soderbergh is at his best again. What shines also is the script, it's excellent, but Damon's performance is worth every price of admission. I would not be surprised if this gets a couple of Oscar nominations, excellent film. I will buy this on DVD for sure!

I wanted to see this in the theatre, but didn't. I'll Netflix it, I suppose.
I still dont know how i feel about this movie, but maybe i'll rent it again to see. I love how they act like a commentary is a huge deal and make it a blu ray exclusive.

You really miss VHS? The other day my sister wanted to watch A Bug's Life and all we had was the VHS version of it. Five minutes into the film I couldn't take it. The picture and audio quality was so awful, I felt like turning off the film. I am content with my Blu-rays.

Actually a lot of movie buffs look for a commentary with the film they purchase. I agree that commentary isn't really a big deal, I actually think it's useless, but a lot of movie goers expect it.

I wholeheartedly agree. My friends wanted to see UP and it was my turn to go over their house but they didn't have a Blu-ray player. Since I had the DVD copy, I didn't need to worry. I don't know why people think it's useless. This benefits DVD owners because since they only have a DVD, and will upgrade in the near future, they have this Blu-ray copy. It also benefits Blu-ray owners because if their friends don't have BD players, well then a DVD copy comes in handy.

That's odd. The critics loved this movie. I mean loved it like it was the movie of the year. Well they also tend to overrate films sometimes. Might rent it just to be sure.

Of course I understand that not everyone has a BD player. I don't recall ever saying such a thing. However, I'm guessing if you want to watch a movie in HD, you would buy a Blu-ray copy, genius. This is my whole point.

It is a combo. sweet.
If the BD/DVD combo is the same price as a normal Blu-ray, I would imagine any Blu-ray only enthusiasts could pass the DVD onto friends,family to watch, so there is some use for it. Unless this is one of those new BD/DVD flipper discs.
Will see to maybe take it, if find it at a good price
