Quote: The Last Days of Disco is a clever, comic return to the nighttime party scene in early Eighties Manhattan from director Whit Stillman (Metropolitan). At the center of the film’s roundelay of revelers are the icy Charlotte (Kate Beckinsale) and the demure Alice (Chloë Sevigny), by day toiling as publishing house assistants and by night looking for romance and entertainment at a premier, Studio 54–like club. The Last Days of Disco is an affectionate yet unsentimental look at the end of an era, brimming with Stillman’s trademark dry humor.

Can't believe it's been around 11 years since The Last Days of Disco was released. Criterion are very reliable with their releases so this should be a very decent disc.

I will upgrade, love the film. I wonder if Criterion has had the rights or so for it the past couple of years now. The DVD from Polygram has remained OOP and with Kate Beckinsale as hot as she is, this should have seen a rerelease from Universal. So it must be that the rights were in Criterion's hands, again just pure speculation on my part, but it does make sense.

When Universal acquired the Polygram (and USA films) libraries, they really didn't do much with them. The only Polygram title I can think of that Universal gave a decent treatment was The Big Lebowski. My guess is Criterion noticed it was being ignored, and got the rights from Universal recently.

Thanks Whit Stillman and Criterion!!!

I remember enjoying this film back when it came out on VHS. I would like to watch it again sometime. I'm definitely surprised to see it get a Criterion release, but that's very cool. Love the art.
