I'm all over this like a fat kid on a KitKat!!!

Funny, I've been hoping for this BD for the last couple of days... now the question is, will the new DVD suffice (assuming it has been remastered in high definition), or is the BD necessary?
fantastic. I love this film. too bad they couldn't have spun it off into a TV series.
I wonder what happened to the proposed sequel that I read about last year?
I loved this film as a kid, however I don't think it holds up all that well 25 years on (in the same way that other fantastical movies of the 80's like Neverending Story and Flight of the Navigator don't either). For those that revere it, I'm happy for you though.
Sooooo want this on BD.
A while ago I would have been overjoyed by this news, but having watched it again on DVD recently it doesn't really hold up in the way that childhood favourites like TRON, Gremlins, Labyrinth, WarGames, Krull and others do. Now TRON on BD, I'd definitely be up for that.
well thats a decent cover, if they had kept the original font it would make a difference. of course it be even better to just use the original cover but ya know.
i can understand those who find it hasn't aged well but its played so often over the years and while i never watched it beginning to end, i always watched parts of it, sometimes til the end. so i was never really apart from it so i think thats why its aged better for me.
but yeah, had i not seen it in many years and suddenly watched, i can imagine what i'd think. although nostalgia does hold me tight so i'd probably like it anyway. lol
either way, definate blu-ray for me since i've never owned it...not even on VHS.

Are the features even that different(if at all) from the first release? They look very similar
The dvd artwork was much, much better than this. People rely on Photoshop far too much.
I got this from Netflix a few weeks ago...it's bad. I'm not talking about the special effects, but the movie overall. The story feels like we've been there, but mostly, the production seems sooooo cheap, the locations, just the production values are bad. The script doesn't help, and it feels like PG-13 should've been its rating.
Recently, I watched this movie again. The first time I'd seen it since I was a kid. I loved it then, but it's bloody awful now.
Agreed. watched it recently too...holy c**p is it truly awful. It was captivating as a child, but man, when it is seen for what it really is, its one ridiculous, poorly produced, poorly acted movie. I think though, this is one movie that would benefit from a re-make.
A bit more extras would have been nicer although it is 25 years old...
A very corny classic. I have seen this movie so many times.
Blu-ray artwork added...
One of the most awful artwork I've ever seen, but I'll be buying the blu-ray, no doubt.

I great flicks to watch as a kid but those films are corny as s**t now though. Still think the first Gremlins is good though.

Hopefully will be buying.
Childhood favorite..... I'll be getting it

We have a funny feeling that TRON will be coming out on Blu-Ray - sorry, we mean DISNEY Blu-Ray - in time for the arrival of the sequel.
There are some who could be flippent about the effects in The Last Starfighter by saying "nice animatics, shame they didn't put the finished shots in", but we're not among them...
The Wilson Bros

I haven't seen The Last Starfighter in over 15 years. Day one Blu-ray purchase for me!
