Let's hope it'll be a nice digipack just like Se7en, Magnolia and Boogie Nights!
Well, I never bought The Mask, so if I like it, why not pick it up?
I'll pick this up since I don't own the current version.
Good stuff. I was tempted to buy the original release but this with on the horizon, I'll wait.
never got the original release, even though i passed it by a few times, but now i'll definetly wait.

why would they do that its only a single disc. It will probably have a green snap case like Son of the Mask: New Line Platinum Series Edition.

Well, I am hoping for a nice keepcase. As nice as digipack designs can be, they don't age well. When my keepcases begin to show wear, I can slip the DVD insert into a nice sparkling new package and it will look brand-new. The addition of a nice booklet would make me even happier. I am just happy to finally get my hands on an anamorphic transfer of this film. It is one of my favorite Jim Carrey vehicles but I refused to buy it until now... cause if it ain't anamorphic I ain't buyin'! By the way...what were they thinkin' when they made a sequel without the guy that WAS the movie? Pure Hollywood stupidity.

.....already own the snapper version.... I knew it's re-release was inevitable, but I was hoping that when it was released it would have been a nice 2-disc'er..... c'mon New Line! You gave Elf 2-discs!
i was also hoping for more deleted scenes, atleast maybe some bloopers... C'mon you know with Jim on the set there had to be some hilarious bloopers around....
I just don't know if those lackluster features are even worth the double dip..... I mean atleast I could finally get an amaray rather than having the snapper.... i just don't know....
maybe if i see it for $10...
edit-
1 more thing, why re-release this as a Platinum Edition? Wasn't this the film to start off the Platinum Series!??!
I was also just looking at my PE Mask, and noticed that it features the theatrical trailer... yet I don't see it listed for the new release.... I also remember on the vhs release after the credits there was and interview with Jim and Space Ghost... why not add that to the new edition?
It's just stupid to release the same film twice under the Platinum Series...

If it had a Carrey commentary I'd be sold, but I'm guessing he doesn't think too highly of New Line these days for tarninishing DUMB AND DUMBER and THE MASK with horrific follow-ups...
Free
I got mine free in cereal!!
Although it is the censored full-screen version, but I am content with it.

Well, extras or no extras, this will be the first time "The Mask" is available in an anamorphic version (enhanced for widescreen playback). For those of us that own or plan on buying widescreen monitors (which will be the standard), this is reason enough to upgrade or purchase for the first time.

I think it is a updated Platinum Series DVD and since Son of the Mask is Platinum Series this hould be too.
I'll definitly get this SE when it comes out.
i have seen this movie on tv sooo many times that i don't want it
Fun stuff, Jim Carrey is great, one of a kind comedic actor.
I have the original dvd,but being a completist when it comes to Jim Carrey,I will pick it up. Besides I loved the movie and haven't seen it since I got the original dvd in 2003.
WOW, The Mask
Love it, Love it, Dolby Digital EX and 6.1 DTS-ES Surround I can't wait! This is excellent, I'm a guru of sound so this going to be fun movie! New Line Cinema does some great sound and picture quality.

Artwork added...
Nice artwork.
ugh. that artwork is horrible. it looks like they're trying to make it match the son of the mask with the clouds, but it doesnt look right with that picture, maybe if they used some different art they could make it work with the clouds, but those two pictures dont look good together
Yeah those clouds just don't match. That is not a great DVD design. It should be a dark background.
I'm still excited though.

Not a bad cover.
Would you believe that I've never seen this. I'll definitely rent it soon.
the art is basically the same but I really don't like it because the dog with the quote is lame and the tagline is stupid and I wish they had Cameron Diaz on the cover in some way and the off center DVD Video/Rom logo is off and that bothers me. Overall this is a poor cover I was hoping for something more origional. Also I love the cover of Son of the Mask: Platium Series so much more than The Mask: Platium Series.
Oh and told ya this was going to be a green keep case!!!

they shouldn't have the dog with the quote and the backround should be purple
the dog with the quote is on the vhs cover. they didn't change the cover at all, with the cloud scheme now serving as a background, and a slight tweak to the text.
This doesn't help my decision regarding whether or not to double dip....
