Warner Home Video has announced The Matrix: 10th Anniversary on Blu-ray. The disc will be available to own from the 31st March, and should retail at around $34.99. As well as a new 47-page Blu-ray book packed with insider info and photos, the disc will include an "immersive hi-def in-movie experience with hours of revealing special features", plus a digital copy of the film. I refuse to believe that after the 10-disc set there is anything left to say about this film, whether it's interesting or dull.
Whatever could the new special features possibly be?
Also, still think the original poster art on the original release is the best artwork. Certainly preferable to this latest effort.

The other Blu-Ray version was released only a few months ago. I might get it because I don't have any of them in Blu-Ray and the cover is pretty good.
It doesn't say anything about new features, it's probably just the "follow-the-rabbit" type, "click while you watch" stuff. Looks good though, I'll pick it up to avoid paying for the whole trilogy.

I had my doubts whether this Blu-Ray disc had hi-def picture and sound on it, but thankfully they tell me that this Blu-Ray disc does indeed include it!

its most likely just the 2 disc version thats included in the complete series collection. MAYBE they've added some featurette about the anniversary or something but yeah. i'm sure the other two movies will be released individually as well.
i guess if you reeeally dont like the sequels and dont own this in high-def (or at all) then its good but otherwise, totally pointless but not unexpected.

Not really. It's never been released on it's own on BD before and for that matter the Remastered version is still only available in the DVD box set.
The sequels are awful. I've waited ages for just the first film on BD.

It comes out exactly on its 10th Anniversary, Mar. 31st. Hard to believe 10 years have passed... Nice cover, but already have the extras on hd dvd.

Time moves too fast. The Matrix was one of the best theatre experiences I have ever had. Never walked out of a theatre so full of adrenaline and wonder.
Is is going to have a case, or be stuck in that book? Also, are the others getting individual releases as well? I passed on the set a while ago, I may go with individuals.

That is a pretty awesome cover, even though I have no intention of buying it because I don't have a BluRay player.
Don't have the movies yet, so i'll go for this edition, the movies are sold seperately here anyway.
I was stoked when I first heard (or read) that Warners would be releasing a standalone edition. Then I was promptly annoyed to discover it would be one of those damn digibook thingys - my OCD demands that everything be uniform!....But seriously, I'm getting tired of all these gimicky packaging ideas. First we get lenticulars and slipcovers, now these stupid things. Honestly, is it too much to ask for a simple standard blu-ray case?...On the plus side, I will give them points for the artwork. I actually kinda dig it, I just think they should have utilized the color green somewhere, preferably for the code. It is a major aspect of the film's visual identity, after all...
Anyway, I also agree the first one is the only one worth viewing more than once, let alone owning. The second two films blew harder than Dizzy Gillespie with an ear infection...but then, I guess that's what happens when a movie becomes an unexpectedly massive hit and Hollywood decides they need to find a way to milk that cash cow into a full-blown trilogy.

Awesome. I really didn't want to re-buy the whole collection, but I'd definitely spring for the original flick. And very classy cover.
Wow, it was 1999 and I still remember this coming out about two months before Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. To think, I totally dismissed this film as more Keanu Reeves cyberpunk garbage in the vein of Johnny Mnemonic and thought Episode I would easily run away with the best Sci-Fi movie crown that year......Boy, was I wrong, LOL.......
i still don't own this, but i might just get the entire blu-ray collection.

Anyway it's not really Matrix related but to the guy who mentioned Johnny Mnemonic, well I was looking at the offical Dolph Lundgren site (I was very bored) and he mentioned that movie, except he called it Johnny Pneumonic, made me laugh anyway.

Funny how everyone asked for this to be released on its own and yet there are loads of complaints about it being a rip off without the other two. It's good for the people who just like the first film, although the trilogy is so cheap you might as well just buy that. Unless you sell it and Royal Mail lose it, in which case you'll be out of pocket to the tune of £26 like I am. F**king Royal Mail b*****ds!

So it remastered? I remember there being a few minor specks and a couple of minor instances of edge enhancement on the other Blu-ray.
I need to eventually save money for a bluray player...
already got the boxset.
I could care less about the other two, so this is a must buy for me.
this is awesome, since all i want is this one, and not the other two
