Universal has announced a deluxe edition of The Mummy which stars Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and Arnold Vosloo. The film will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Extras will include 3 commentaries (with Director Stephen Sommers and Editor Bob Ducsay, with Actor Brendan Fraser, and with Actors Oded Fehr, Kevin J. O'Connor and Arnold Vosloo), a digital copy of the film, deleted scenes, featurettes (An Army To Rule The World Part 1, Unraveling The Legacy Of The Mummy, Visual And Special Effects Formation, Building A Better Mummy, Egyptology 101: Pharaoh Lineage), a photograph montage, a Storyboard To Final Film Comparison, the theatrical trailer, and a sneak peak at The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor.

Do we seriously need another 'digital copy'. I mean Mummy is classic but we do not need that.
I already have the two-disc version of The Mummy and the Mummy Returns was a vicious punch in the teeth. I'll pass on this hardcore.

Christ do we need another one?
I love these films. I know there are some that like to rank on them, but these are fun to watch. Not seeing anything on these that will get me to purchase them again. Someone must have told the folks that put these together that including a digital copy of the film is a major selling point. But in most forums I visit, seems the digital copy is a non-factor in if folks want these.
And guess what guys? I've just read news that "Van Helsing" 2 Disc Edition is finally being released as well. Look out for it around the same time as these releases.
Don't waste your money buying this. Because, sooner than later, a deluxe edition of Socrpion King will be available to promote the direct to dvd sequel. Also, the 3rd Mummy will come to dvd during christmas. And, I heard that all the actors of that movie also signed on for two more sequels.So just be patient and one day, Universal will release like a complete Mummy collection with lots of discs.
And then there will be yet another release when the new Mummy hits theaters...and then another after that when it's on it's way to DVD...
what about a scarab beatle shaped dvd box set or mummy shaped, that would be cool...

really? i know i'm part of a huge minority but i really liked that movie and always thought it was pretty bare so thats cool. let's hope its released on blu-ray as well.

I already got the 3 pack of this damn movie. as for helsing its a decent movie but i dont care for any special features.....
These two films are so much fun. But I seem to recall when they released the "Ultimate Edition" of the first that they claimed it would never be re-released again, yet they have done it twice since with two more re-releases on the way...
Oh well, you can't take a studio's word on that anyway. I own the double pack with the box that's shaped like the Book of the Dead. That's enough for me. I have no plans to ever buy "The Scorpion King" and still aren't sure whether I'm going to check out the new one. If Rachel Weisz turned down the script, you know there must be something wrong...

I think Rachel Weisz turned it down because she just wasn't interested in doing any more films in the series. She first wasn't interested after the Mummy Returns was released.
If you already owned The Mummy Collector's Set (The Mummy/ The Mummy Returns/ The Scorpion King), there's no reason to get this. I would wait until The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor comes out in a box set with the previous flicks.

OMFG!!!!! I expected this and bought the 2 movies on HD DVD the last 2 months!!!!! ARGHHHHH!
Alright, I just checked out "The Mummy: Ultimate Edition" and standard "The Mummy Returns" DVD's that I have; the only new things are the two 'Army to Rule the World' and 'Unraveling the Legacy of the Mummy' things, and of course the digital copies and Tomb of the Dragon Emperor things.
Everything else is exactly the same. Those are so not worth buying.
I am interested to see what they do for the artwork though, considering between releases they've used all the posters and such already. And when are we supposed to get a trailer for Tomb, anyway?!?!

And thank you Universal for another digital copy that a) I am not interested in AT ALL, and b) even if I were, would be USELESS for us Mac users.

You would be correct, Bouncy. She loved her character and the plots of the first two films. One of the other reasons she agreed to do a third was if Sommers and his writing were aboard. Since neither is the case, she read the script and opted out.

Most people have this and then if you didn't you would wait for the BD anyway
