Odds are that BEst Buy or Circuit City will have a 2 for 1 deal & include a free movie money thing for the third one...something will happen to increase the incentive to buy them.

really? i know i'm part of a huge minority but i really liked that movie and always thought it was pretty bare so thats cool. let's hope its released on blu-ray as well.
Remember, there was already a Van Helsing 2-disc in the 3-disc The Ultimate Collector's Edition (the 2nd disc was Van Helsing extras, the 3rd disc was the original Dracula, Frankenstein, and Wolfman movies). I really don't understand the bashing of that movie, I thought it was great.
As far as the Mummy movies, I think the 3-pack is good enough. It will be hard not to replace the DVD with Bluray when it comes out though.

I'll pass for these and wait for the inevitable Blu-Ray release!
The Mummy and The Mummy Returns are awesome movies.
But
*Ugh*
The Scorpion King is a horrible horrible movie, it should not be associated with The Mummy series at all...

I don't feel like going to my DVD shelf and digging it out, but are there really any significant additions to these over the Ultimate Edition of part 1 and the special 2 disc of part 2? I really don't want to buy these again.
at least the cropped version is dropped from this set.
I actually like the coverart for both films very much. I think they're quite clean and classy, and considering I still haven't bought these films I may just pick them up eventually.

Not very good art... same picture of Rick on both sidebars, not to mention that its making it look there like his romantic interest shifts from Evy in the first film to the Scorpion King in the 2nd... yikes.
I think they're just giving Rachel Weisz a bit more focus on the first one as she's got herself an oscar since making these. First one's great fun, and the second one's a guilty pleasure (the guilt comes from watching a film with THOSE special effects) but like everyone else, I'm waiting for the Blu-ray versions.

Most people have this and then if you didn't you would wait for the BD anyway
the first mummy is also missing the dts soundtrack from the ultimate edition..

actually...assuming this is true and not just net rumors or wrong stories, but when it was announced they would be making a 3rd, she was on board and even said she wanted to do it. but then shortly after that another story broke that specifically said she didnt like the script and dropped out.
it'll be weird to have someone else in the role but least brendan is still there and her brother is the same actor as well so as meatloaf once sang "two outta three ain't bad"
You would be correct, Bouncy. She loved her character and the plots of the first two films. One of the other reasons she agreed to do a third was if Sommers and his writing were aboard. Since neither is the case, she read the script and opted out.
From the sounds of things, she made a wise decision.

Maybe Universal can make a box set in shaped like a real mummy? I'd buy that!

Another "deluxe" edition that is not that much "deluxe", actually...
And thank you Universal for another digital copy that a) I am not interested in AT ALL, and b) even if I were, would be USELESS for us Mac users.
I remember when the DVD market was full of promise and hope...

Alright, I just checked out "The Mummy: Ultimate Edition" and standard "The Mummy Returns" DVD's that I have; the only new things are the two 'Army to Rule the World' and 'Unraveling the Legacy of the Mummy' things, and of course the digital copies and Tomb of the Dragon Emperor things.
Everything else is exactly the same. Those are so not worth buying.
I am interested to see what they do for the artwork though, considering between releases they've used all the posters and such already. And when are we supposed to get a trailer for Tomb, anyway?!?!

OMFG!!!!! I expected this and bought the 2 movies on HD DVD the last 2 months!!!!! ARGHHHHH!

If you already owned The Mummy Collector's Set (The Mummy/ The Mummy Returns/ The Scorpion King), there's no reason to get this. I would wait until The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor comes out in a box set with the previous flicks.
I think Rachel Weisz turned it down because she just wasn't interested in doing any more films in the series. She first wasn't interested after the Mummy Returns was released.
These two films are so much fun. But I seem to recall when they released the "Ultimate Edition" of the first that they claimed it would never be re-released again, yet they have done it twice since with two more re-releases on the way...
Oh well, you can't take a studio's word on that anyway. I own the double pack with the box that's shaped like the Book of the Dead. That's enough for me. I have no plans to ever buy "The Scorpion King" and still aren't sure whether I'm going to check out the new one. If Rachel Weisz turned down the script, you know there must be something wrong...
Van Helsing was cheesy fun and I enjoyed it. But I'm wondering what happened with making another one. Stephen Sommers had the sets still rented out and, depending on the success of the film, was either going to do a sequel or a mini-series for NBC. Now that he's doing the G.I. Joe film, I doubt he has any plans for a Van Helsing follow-up.

I already got the 3 pack of this damn movie. as for helsing its a decent movie but i dont care for any special features.....
Any of the things on those new other than the Tomb previews?
Triple dip???The Mummy is grand and Mummy Returns is barely mediocre.

what about a scarab beatle shaped dvd box set or mummy shaped, that would be cool...
And then there will be yet another release when the new Mummy hits theaters...and then another after that when it's on it's way to DVD...
Don't waste your money buying this. Because, sooner than later, a deluxe edition of Socrpion King will be available to promote the direct to dvd sequel. Also, the 3rd Mummy will come to dvd during christmas. And, I heard that all the actors of that movie also signed on for two more sequels. So just be patient and one day, Universal will release like a complete Mummy collection with lots of discs.

I love these films. I know there are some that like to rank on them, but these are fun to watch. Not seeing anything on these that will get me to purchase them again. Someone must have told the folks that put these together that including a digital copy of the film is a major selling point. But in most forums I visit, seems the digital copy is a non-factor in if folks want these.
Christ do we need another one?
They will be re-released on Blu-ray for a second time when
'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' is released on Blu-ray in November, probably be a box set as well!

Yeah, All The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and The Scorpion King will be available on Blu-Ray JULY 22
Not to mention the Trilogy pack next year when the 3rd makes its way to DVD....
Bring on the special edition of the Scorpion King!!!! Three discs, no less please.

Yup--the Blu-ray versions are expected a couple of weeks later.

I already have the two-disc version of The Mummy and the Mummy Returns was a vicious punch in the teeth. I'll pass on this hardcore.
Do we seriously need another 'digital copy'. I mean Mummy is classic but we do not need that.
Another release??
Can we expect more double dipping?
