Universal Pictures UK has announced the release of both the 1932 and 1999 versions of The Mummy for the 21st of July, priced at around £9.99. A boxed set containing both the 1999 version and its immediate sequel, The Mummy Returns, will also be available for around £15.99. The Mummy (1932) will include forty-five minutes of bonus documentary footage.

Note that it only says "uncut" on the first movie - The Mummy Returns is probably STILL missing the headbutt.

I love the cover for the 1932 mummy movie, I may have to get this.

Our brother is an executive at the British Museum, and has always rolled his eyes at the pathetic representation of the museum in The Mummy Returns - both inside and out. While they won't let anybody film in there no matter how prestigous, there might have been real mummies breaking out of their sarcophagi in protest at being associated with The Mummy Returns.
The new movie shows a glimmer of promise, though.

being an R2 release, this is probably due to violence that had to be toned down or cut during its theatrical or previous dvd releases. the UK has some wacky laws regarding on-screen violence....hence why they have the "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles" lol

The laws have been relaxed somewhat in recent years, but they still have a thing about head butts.

It's not laws so much as BBFC guidelines - you can have a headbutt in your 18 cert, they're just iffy about imitable behaviour in films aimed at younger audiences. Which isn't unreasonable - you SHOULD question the nature of the violence you use onscreen. Particularly if you're going for the family audience.
