Helgeland? Why would Donner do a commentary with the guy who ruined ASSASSINS for him...anyway...

True because the remake comes out about two weeks prior to this double dip, 6/6/06! LOL

I`ll definately pick this up. I dont own it yet, so this is as good a time as any to buy. Bring on the cover art.
A great movie - they just don't make 'em like this anymore.....even though they keep trying to remake 'em!
Fox doing a double-dip to coincide with a remake being released in theaters? No, they wouldn't, would they? lol, I should just walk up to the CEO of 20th Century Fox and hold my groin and be like "ooh, please, stop hitting me there."
Not surprising at all and don't be surprised if they include a free movie ticket for the remake either. You can expect the same with that Garfield Collector's Edition as well.
At least this set does have some very nice extras on it, it's a shame they didn't retain the original dvd commentary by Richard Donner and Stuart Baird. Also, it would've been nice for Jerry Goldsmith's influential and nerve racking score to have been isolated on it's own.

They should bump the release date so it comes out BEFORE the remake. Then include the free ticket to the remake.

No. That would be too insulting. Spamming the pointless, not wanted, not needed re-make in side this classic? No thanks.

I own the collectors edition in Region 2.
The Omen is one of the best horror films ever! And they are remaking it. B*****DS!

Are any of those features really new?
I have the old DVD around here somewhere and at least the majority of that sounds very, very familiar...

Exactly what I was just thinking...
And a quick check of my boxset shows 'most' of those extras. The only thing missing off the packaging was that deleted scene, and I havn't looked at that dvd for a while, so I don't know if it was even on there.
Still, with the same 'newly mixed English stereo' audio track, it seems hardly worth upgrading this movie. My boxset is fine, even with Omen IV!

Ill pick this up .
They're not listed...I hope the trailers are on there...and is that really a new commentary? Damn, I guess I'll have to go buy back my old disc if that's the case...

Hey I'd rather have people get this before the remake, watch it, then use the free ticket to see the remake for free so they don't waste their money on it and spend their well earned money on this.

I think i'll stick with my 4 movie box set - cost me all of $30 CAD from memory - a great movie but not worth the double dip
ive got the trilogy, the omen is great, its omen 2 is watchable, omen 3 is c**p, one of the worst movies ive ever seen. I cant see them improving on the omen to much, but lets hope for big improvements on 2 and 3.
Nice extras for a '70s horror flick, but I think Fox should've issued a 5.1 remix along with the stereo and mono tracks.

The Donner/Baird commentary from the first release will be included in addition to the new commentary track, but I'm with you on the isolated score--wish they'd skipped the new commentary and included a track with the score instead.

Artwork added...
The good thing about all these remakes is that we get these great Special Editions of classic old films. The remake might be decent because it does have a strong cast of Liev Schreiber, Julia Stiles, Mia Farrow, David Thewlis, Michael Gambon and Pete Postlethwaite. I also found director John Moore to have done some intresting things in the past. He sufficently upgrade "Flight of the Pheonix" so I think he will do fine with "The Omen". I'm intrested to see it.
I really love that artwork. Now I`m anticipating this release even more. I always though this film was better than the Exorcist.
Really cool art
I like the artwork.
#3 gets tediously slagged off for no good reason.
The only fault with #3 is how simple the knives are now to kill Damian.
If the screenwriters had put in a simple explianation that all things Holy are now so much stronger because of the birth of the Christ Child (hence only one dagger, with no ritual, will do now) a big plot hole would have at least been filled in a more satisfactory fashion.
Otherwise it's a good sequel, with another fne score, good performances, a nice return to the first film's English setting, a truly nasty death in the gun suicide (mainstream deaths do not get much more messy and clinical in their morbid detail - that twitching leg) and if it's one of the worst films anyone has ever seen then they must have seen vwery few films and ALL must have been REALLY bad.
Screw the re-make.

I feel exactly the same way about The Final Conflict, Dave. Yeah, it has it's flaws and the ending is a bit on the weaker side, but it's entertaining, Sam Neil is great as the grown up Damien, and Jerry Goldsmith's score is fantastic--possibly the best in a trilogy of great scores by him.

Haha, great artwork.
I like the artwork, I wouldn't mind picking this up.
I remember a few years ago, when DVDs wasn't exactly popular, I did bought the Omen Pack, and one wouldn't work, but I watched them all and took them back and got my money back.
Now I'll pick this up.

And Helgeland had nothing to do with the original "Omen" film either.
