What the hell? This is the second Optimum DVD release in as many posts with a dumbass cover. Do you think they're eager to promote that people liked it? "No, really, it's very good. Look at all the great reviews we have on the cover. It has to be good". Dumb.

It's likely to be region free, unlike the Lionsgate BD which isn't. That counts for a lot more than the cover IMO.

That was a truly awful cover! Reminds me of EIV in their glory days. Why couldn't they just use the r1 artwork? A lot more classy and eerie than this cheap photoshop fluff.

the cover art it's REALLY BAD, its awful... horrible!
and all the quotes shouldn't be there...
i mean, it's not the scariest movie of the year (not scary at all)
it's not excellent... it's descent...
and well, yeah the first quote it's allright... it fits the movie...

i expected more about this, i was like, getting ready to get scared as hell, and it just didnt happen

I thought it was pretty scary in places. It made me jump. Sure the cover art isn't great but I've seen far worse.

This dvd has a TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack and a DTS-HD soundtrack.

I thought these would only appear on blu-rays ?

Hopefully this will be Region Free like Optimum's first batch of BDs but I suspect it will be Region B.

Chris are you able to ask Optimum if these new BDs will be Region B or Free please?

I loved this film, I saw it twice theatrically. Anyways let me stay with my Blu-ray Region A cover art, it owns this one by lots. This cover is too crowded.

It would appear so, although Tom was a lasy git and didn't bother to list the Blu-ray specs. Having looked at an external review it would seem that the US BD has DTS-HD MA 7.1 and this 'only' has 5.1, but as you point out, more extras (UK exclusives). It's region free as well (I tested it).

There was a really funny bit were the director was asked by Del Toro if he would like to direct the inevitable US remake. Bayona repotedly replied 'No', to which Del Toro said 'Good'. The point being made that in Del Toro's eyes the film was perfect and that he didn't want to have Bayona 'go through' the Hollywood machine on a remake. I believe Del Toro is producing a US remake at some level with a different director. Hopefully QC will remain as high on it as the original.
