Yeah, I liked it despite the many inaccuracies it had. Then again what do you expect from Roland Emmerich? Mel put on a strong performance and John Williams provided a well structured patriotic (no pun intended) score.
But also, these extended cuts are bullplop. They just take the deleted scenes from the previous DVD release and without the director's approval insert them back in. The Black Hawk Down version didn't do anything, I haven't seen this "extended cut" yet, but I actually liked the Tears of The Sun extended cut.

I've been pretty impressed with recent Sony transfers of older movies on Blu Ray. I had a copy of SWAT and Tears of the Sun (among others)brought back for me from the States last week and I was really struck at the massive difference between the SD DVD and the HD version. Looking forward to Patriot. I agree, it was an entertaining movie. The pic and sound quality should be awesome. The sequence where Mel frees Heath Ledger from the British soldiers is classic sound demo material...

Agreed, John Williams is the real star here. Along with the Harry Potter theme and Duel of the Fates, this is some of his last truly great work. He seems to just be a lot more subtle in his more recent compositions, which is great for the film, but it doesn't look like we'll be seeing any more of the likes of the main themes to Superman, Indiana Jones or Star Wars.

Roland Emmerich + Dean Devlin + Mel gibson = C**P.
No drunkese subtitles? They have got every other language...

Entertaining film though. I couldn't care less about all those who rant on about the Brit bashing. Are we to forever just watch films that depict parts of history where the Germans or the Arabs are the baddies, often without objectivity? I don't really care who's portrayed as the bad guys, as long as the film's entertaining.
