The Real Cancun (AU - DVD R4)
Details on a Region 4 release of the world's first reality movie
Title: The Real Cancun
Starring: Lots of young, drunk kids
Released: December 3, 2003
SRP: N/A
Billed as the first ever reality movie, Village Roadshow's documentary The Real Cancun has been given a Region 4 December release and it should be interesting to see how well this title performs on our favourite format.
Each year over 40,000 college students travel to Cancun, Mexico for 'Spring Break'. But this year, for the first time, 16 people will come together for 8 days in a beachfront villa for the ultimate vacation. Bonds will be forged, romances sparked, friendships tested and hearts broken, all amidst a backdrop of non-stop partying.
The disc looks to be directly lifted from New Line's Region 1 disc, which is a good sign as the menu system (check out the, um, impressive intro sequence), extras and transfer were all quite decent on the US version. There's a 1.78:1 widescreen presentation, Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack and extras including deleted scenes, highlights from the premiere and cast insights. Look out for the disc on December 3, 2003 but for now check out the menu shots below.
