Wooo! Yeah! Wooooooo!
I should probably rent these first just to make sure they're as good as I remeber.

They're not Gabe...
Why no season sets? WHY??????
This series is my most anticipated tv series, and they screw me by releasing four random episodes???

For the record, the episodes on the discs are:
Volume 1: "Night Game," "Lost and Foundry," "Bird of Kildarby" and "Killerwatt."
Volume 2: "Revenge of Murray and the Mantis," "Ghostbuster of the Year," "Drool, the Dog Faced Goblin" and "Mr. Sandman, Dream Me a Dream.
Volume 3: "Adventures in Slime and Space," "They Call Me Mister Slimer," "Victor the Happy Ghost" and "Slimer, Come Home."
Real Ghostbusters had it moments, especially in the first season. They did have a lot of good writers on the series such as J. Michael Straczynski, David Gerrold and Larry DiTillio.

ahhhh....man.

I never saw this show until Colombia Pictures included two of the episodes on my DVD of GHOSTBUSTERS 2. It was nothing special, but why are they releasing these seperate DVDs? Wouldnt it be easier to just release a complete boxed set of the show? You waste less link, paper, and DVD cases and it would probably be cheaper. I just don't get Sony sometimes.
What is this, 2001? Why waste time and money to release "random episode" volumes when everyone is releasing season box sets these days. Talk about backwards, retarded thinking.
These are smaller releases aimed at the kids market, not adults. Though since it hasn't been on in ages, I can't imagine them appealing to children more than grownups. An adult will see the package and say, "Cool, I remember watching this when I was growing up." A kid will look at it and say, "What the hell is this?" and go back to their Power Rangers or whatever the big kiddie trends is these days.
The third cover is awful. Not that the first two are any better but the third one is simply the worst.
I still remember waking up early on Saturday mornings, turning on the TV, arranging a pad of paper and pile of pencils, and drawing my little heart out to this show. I remeber the ghost designs being pretty inspiring, and I still have a few of the toys somewhere.
If I wasn't affraid of you all making fun, I'd post the picture of six or seven year old me on Christmas day clutching my "REal Ghostbusters" board game. It was better than the Nintendo video game.

I think they hold up pretty well. There was a strange darkness or pseudo-serious tone to them not present in most other cartoons of the time.
Yeah, what is going on with that third cover? Completely different style to the first two.
YEEEEESSS!!!
Bad covers.
Was this any good?
The first 2 seasons were incredible. Than *it's a long story and any ghostbusters fan will explain it in detail* they decided to give more airtime to Slimer becuase he was 'kid friendly' and the whole show went down the tubes. The good news, the 1st 2 seasons are pretty much comprised of over 50 episodes I think, so almost half of the made episodes aren't that bad.
I'm not defending the Slimer! and The Real Ghostbusters episodes; some were okay, but most weren't. The quality in the show really fell, with only occasionally good episodes.
Seriously though, this is really a bone head idea by them, they should have just released these in box sets for crying out loud. It's bad enough they turned people off by including one good episode and one really crummy episode on the 2 disk Gift Pack...now this <_<
*goes and watches complete series on bootleg*

The Real Ghostbusters were better than Ghostbusters 2.
why the heck can't they just release season sets instead of this random episode garbage?
Man, I absolutely LOVED this show! These releases could be alot better though.
I've not seen the show in years I loved it when I was younger, I agree about these should be released in boxsets.
I saw some episodes of this during this past halloween. It was on tv. They werent even smoothly animated to 30 fps. It looks like it was done at half that, around 15. It was like watching a 10 y ear old internet video. The voice over sucked too. Sadly, it was another show that I remembered better then it actually was.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about the Droids and Ewoks DVDs that were released a while back. I wasn't too keen on Fox not releasing the full sets of each, but after watching them again after all these years I could totally understand why they hadn't released more of them in a boxset or something.

i really only want season one...until they release season sets, i'll stick with my good ol' "horrible recorded-off-of-saturday-morning-TV" VHS tapes that my brother and I grew up with.
the only episodes off of these that grab my interest are Killerwatt, The Sandman one, and Slimer Come Home (all season one episodes, not surprisingly).

The Real Ghostbusters - to us - will always be the malignant tumour that spread its cancer to Ghostbusters II, with its huge popularity among kids necessitating that the sequel be more kiddie-friendly. For example: "slimer" being given more to do, Annie Potts looking more like her animated counterpart, the guys referred to almost exclusively by their first-names and just the lack of cynicism that really set of the first movie and made it so accessible to audiences.
When Ghostbusters came out, we were about 11, and pretty much the right age for The Real Ghostbusters to be the coolest thing in town, but we had a look at the first episode (and this was with collecting all of the stickers from Shreddies beforehand) and the show came as a crashing blow up on exposure.
What really p**sed us off about it was the way that it f*cked up one of the classic movies for us. We tuned into a random episode when it went into the UK equivalent of syndication, and it was about a ghost who kept scaring people, crying "Rosebud" as it did so. The way that it was "exorcised" was though giving it...well, you have probably worked it out for yourself. The point is that it blew the mystery of Citizen Kane for a generation of kids, who would have appreciated Welles' tantalizing mystery when they were old enough. One of the greats ruined by a mediocre cartoon with animation so questionable that it drops frames at the same rate as a particularly clumsy glazer.
You only have to look at Ghostbusters II in order to see the kind of damage this thing did.

If we don't buy these damn random ep sets we'll force these studios to give us what we want: full season sets (with tons of extras).
Boycott these untill they release the season box sets!
You know, I wouldn't be surprised that if they did release the boxsets, that they would charge triple the price...

The animation of these cartoons stand up as well as the special effects in the two live-action films. Ummm...not so good.
I loved the cartoons, they were better than the movies. I hope they release a box set. Aswell as Exetreme Ghostbusters.
