Universal has sent over details on the new collector's package
Title: The Ring

Universal has officially announced The Ring: Collector's Set which includes the feature film along with all-new exclusive bonus features. Probably will get it. I don't own it yet plus the free ticket.
BLAH! I own the original disc and I probably won't buy this. I wonder if more will go the 'Lost Disc route'.
that short film sounds tempting but they just want my money.
Yeah it's for new people to jump on but you can't say they want to lure people into double dipping.
Two have done this as far as I know, so far...
Pirates of the Caribbean
The Ring

cool. Ill rent it, but I already own the movie so theres no reason to buy it. I have no prob spending money on the ring 2 movie ticket anyway..
How unusual....This is the reason why I am waiting for the Kill Bill box set special edition rather buying both movies individually
I also already have it. So i am probably also gonna pass.
On the original release there is a very cool easter egg on. You can actually watch the "video that kills in 7 days", hidden in the main menu.
COOL stuff

i'm waiting for the kill bill box set as well, 'till then I can watch them on starz......
jp, Spider-Man did the 3rd disc w. free movie ticket as well. Atleast they put it in a case unlike this side by side crap PotC and Ring are doing...
so list thus far
•Spider-Man
•Pirates of the Carribean
•The Ring

I must say, this really narks me what the studios are doing. It's like the ultimate double dip.
I wonder if Ringu 2 is going to see a DVD release soon in the USA. The extras on this release makes me want to actually buy the DVD since I don't own the original release.

Oh that's right, I forgot about that one.

looks like they dropped the dts from the original release. shame.
With as barebones a release as the original disc was, it was obvious they'd end up releasing a Collector's Edition for when the sequel came out. And since I loved the movie I will be double dipping and buying this one, even if I own the first version already. I can't help it though, I want the version with all of the special features.
I might wait a couple of months or so until the price goes down though since it's not like I'll NEED it right away since I already own the movie and won't be in a big hurry to watch the special features. I might even wait until October, when it is sure to have had a price drop by, so I can get it around Halloween. How perfect.
Anyway, I'm just happy they're releasing a Collector's Edition now. Although it would be nice if they'd give it some cool new artwork. I mean why have the same artwork for the CE?

Thats why I never buy bare-bones releases.
I'll stick with my R2 Japanese version box set which has DTS and a cool load of extras, and is a 100 times better than the Hollywood version.
Sure why not? I don't own the first release so why not get this one that brings additional features and a free movie ticket as well.
The free movie ticket is generally not an attraction for me, since the mall cinema here lets me in for free.
It's a nationwide policy for disabled patrons of Carmike Cinemas -- 1 movie per day, at any Carmike Cinema, for a disabled person and his or her companion.
I don't own the film yet, so I'll definitely be picking this up. It's every bit as good as Ringu, if not better due to a real story being told.
this def. could be worth checking out.. one thing i didnt like about the original release was the lack of extra features.. but after you buy this then you have two copies of it.. i guess thats what ebay is for..
I can just imagine ebay filling up with copies of The Ring that no one wants.
If I do buy this, which I still doubt I will, I could give the first disc to a friend. I just found out they don't have the movie.

I'm looking forward to seeing The Ring twO. I'm buying The Ring 2-disc Collector's Set. I only own the VHS screener.
where are the extras???
although there are a couple of extras - a commentary wold have motivated me into buying this.
So glad I didn't buy this when it first came out. So, is this an all-new release, or is it the previous release plus a bonus disc?
Also, I read somewhere (I think it was Comcast OnDemand when I was watching the Ring 2 trailer) that Ring 2 was Rated R. I take it with a grain of salt, but anyone else hear this?

Rated R? Excellent!
Enjoyed this film....good story as well as being decently scary.
Looking forward to the next installment.
Just out of curiosity..what is the Japanese version like..some say it's better than this..correct..I'm not bothered about subs and all..might give them both a try..Ringu 1 and 2.

Why is universal doing all these special "re-issues" and leaving out the DTS soundtracks?!? I would trade all the special features in the world for a DTS track anyday.

But you're hardly going to get anything off from it on e-bay. Maybe $1 or $2. I'm just going to give mine to a friend or family member. I'd feel better giving it to someone after spending a decent chunk of money on it pre-ordering it so I could get it a day early. I'd hate to then get rid of it for a couple of dollars, which is basically all it's worth now.

Will Buy
Now I hate double dips, but I will buy this one because I don't own the DVD, I have it on vhs but not DVD, so I'll get this but probably the only double dip I'll buy for a long time unless its worth the money.
So can any of you horror fans tell me why the demonic message is transmitted via VHS? I can only imagine the horror when it moves to Dish Network, Direct TV, Cable, DVD, Blu-Ray or HD-DVD! Maybe these folks are cursed for still owning a VCR. I don't do VHS so I guess I am safe until the Devil goes Hi-tech! What an insipid piece of trash.

Looks like extra money expected along with the sequel. A LOT of money.
