Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced DVD ($30.99) and Blu-ray ($35.99) releases of The Rum Diary for February 14th. The only extra material on either release will be 2 featurettes ("A Voice Made of Ink and Rage: Inside The Rum Diary", "The Rum Diary Back-Story"). We've attached the official package artwork for each of the releases below:
Quote: Based on the novel by Hunter S. Thompson, THE RUM DIARY, follows itinerant journalist Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp) on an alcohol-fueled journey across the pristine island of Puerto Rico. Adopting the rum-soaked life of the island, Paul soon becomes obsessed with Chenault (Amber Heard) the wildly attractive fiancée of Sanderson (Aaron Eckhart), an American businessman involved in shady development deals. When Kemp is recruited by Sanderson to write favorably about his latest unsavory scheme, the journalist is presented with a choice: to use his words for the corrupt businessman’s financial benefit or use them to take him down.

I like the cover art and the color scheme, film was mediocre. It was mostly boring, hard to even recomend a rental.

Something tells me you're not a Hunter S. Thompson fan. Don't worry, not hear to give you hate. Actually here to spare you some. I love how the industry and the filmmakers are puzzled as to why this film did poorly at the box office. Ever occur to them spending $48 million on a very different comedy for a very eclectic group of audience wasn't such a bright idea?

Being a Hunter Thompson fan, I loved this.
Meh. I like Johnny Depp, AMAZING actor, but I feel like he plays the same character in all of his low budget movies. Terrible cover. Johnny Depp is sexy, but they should of gone with the poster of Johnny in the hotel room with bottles on the ground.
