Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced this Dakota Fanning movie
Title: The Runaways (IMDb)
Starring: Kristen Stewart
Released: 20th July 2010
SRP: $27.96 (DVD)
Further Details:
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced DVD ($27.96) and Blu-ray ($34.95) releases of The Runaways for the 20th July. Extras will include an audio commentary with Joan Jett, Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, and 2 featurettes ("Plugged In: Making the Film", "The Runaways"). We've attached the official package artwork for each of the releases below:

Quote: The film follows two friends, Joan Jett (KRISTEN STEWART) and Cherie Currie (DAKOTA FANNING), as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. They fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley (MICHAEL SHANNON), who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself and so do its two leads: Joan is the band's pure rock' n' roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten.

this movie was freaking awesome. Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart are future oscar winners.
I LOVED this movie. I can't wait to add the DVD to my collection. Only 40 days to go WOOHOO!!!

I believe this is like the Collateral Blu-Ray artwork. Not any of the posters, just made for the Dvd/Blu-Ray cover with a quick Photoshop job. Though this looks pretty good and well done. I like it. Kristen Stewart looks hot in this.

Looked great but it never opened around me. Can't wait to see it. I'm sure I'll love it.
I enjoyed this movie; I was lucky enough to see it at a local indie-type theatre. I wish that it had focused more on Kirsten Stewart as Joan Jett, if only because it was a little odd seeing Dakota Fanning in such a sexualized role as Cherie Currie. However, both actresses were great. Michael Shannon as Kim Fowley stole every scene he was in, though. He was probably my favorite part of the movie.
I want to see it even though not all of the members of the group were involved in this film.

It was in a local indie theater here in the Detroit area. It didn't get a wide release but it was in theaters. I had wanted to see it.

The cover looks nice and guess what they got bonus points for putting the correct actor's name over the character they played in the movie.

I really wanted to see this one, but it wasn't playing anywhere near me. I'll rent, and more than likely purchase this one.
Not my type of music, so a pass for me.
However, if they made a movie about Joan Jett when she was in The Blackhearts then I might have been interested.

Lita refused to be involved so thats why she was such a small part of the movie. gotta give the producers and Joan credit for respecting her decision. had this been made outside the band, i bet they wouldnt have cared and did whatever they wanted...regardless of how outlandish or even true it might have been.

Buying the Blu-ray on day one!! I love Joan Jett to death, and I was a little skeptical of Kristen Stewart playing her at first, but now, after watching some previews, I'm all for seeing Kristen playing Joan. But like I said, day one Blu-ray purchase for me!! :-)

The film was surprisingly great, but that artwork is too teenybopperish for my taste. I mean, man, that pullquote...
i can't wait to see this. Joan Jett has been my idol since i was 11 (the year the album I LOVE R&R came out!). The Runaways stuff isn't so much my thing (Joan's music is more melodic while keeping that Runaways vibe). i hear Kristen S and Dakota were PHENOMENAL in this. i figured Dakota would be. she's always been a great actress but i was a bit (not shocked but..) VERY surprised to hear Kristen was awesome! i DO like the Twilight movies (i know, i know, lame of me! LOL) and i like Kristen but i don't think she's really a good actress. it looks like The Runaways will change that opinion of her. (she's not terrible IMO, she's just not great, so far...).
Wanted to buy this on Blu-ray, but it's region A locked
Gonna have to live with the DVD then...

Actually, I think the coverart looks like something from the 70's, just like the movie's time period. Brilliant. Love the cover. Hadn't seen it as it did not come to our theater, but will def. add to my block. online queue.

Heard great things about this, definite pick up
Artwork looks like 50s style but this movie didn't have any appeal. Love Dakota Fanning but will pass.
