Don't know why, but I prefer the original artwork.
Are you kidding me. The show is great. I have all 10 seasons although I need the movie to complete my collection. Yes the simpsons movie was very funny and it's probably going to be the funniest films I've seen this year but it's not that good. But I'd give it a B-. It was hilarious. I'm so buying this December 18th. But I have a bad feeling that in July 2008 they'll release a 2-disc edition and include way more features. No wonder why there isn't so many extras. But they do sound good. Although maybe the deleted scenes will be extended.
I'll wait for the special edition
Liked the movie. Won't be buying it. I know they will bring out a better release with more features.
That's hilarious! They originally attatched a Gene Shalit quote with an image of a pig with hair! Pretty easy to see why they changed it! HA HA!
Great film.... rubbish cover. And I mean absolute rubbish.
Expect thirteen dozen cover's exclusive to different stores when it hits UK shelves.

No, they didn't only have Green Day, they also had a Karen Carpenter song in there. You know, it plays during the scene when Homer finds out that Marge and the kids have left Alaska and back to Springfield.

I like it emptier... The colour in the last one made me want to puke.
The old cover was better....with the yellow in the background now it looks more empty than it did before!
I love how small "The Simpsons" is. Doesn't need to be be big at all.
Stupid quote, but that's about all I have to say that's negative. Great cover. Can't wait to get this on Blu-Ray.

I liked the original art better (the background color was a huge plus), didn't like the pig, glad to see it removed from the cover. Could deal without either saying Widescreen where they do, but again liked the original more. I do like Matt's sig moved down.
Still, I'm NOT seeing this again.

Harry Plopper!
great now it's the Poster(and Spider-Pig is on the spine, not the cover).
What's with the moving Matt Groening's signature to Homer's shoulder? Kinda random if you ask me.
liked the old artwork better.
Big difference.

It isn't that much different from the early art.
I knew someone would say that... It's different enough.

Given the state of the show for the past few years, I would say yes (and before you all flame me, I'm one of the biggest Simpsons fans around.)

Danny Elfman was the one who composed the theme for "The Simpsons", not Zimmer. And I like the fact that Zimmer adapted Elfman and Clausen's styles when writing the underscore and supporting themes, it really felt like Zimmer wasn't putting his style all over it -- a "Spanglish" or POTC-styled score wouldn't fit the film at all.

glad they got rid of spider pig on the front, looks much better, but get rid of the quote please! Does anybody need to have a quote saying the simpsons movie is funny?
I thought this disc was going to have dts?

An awesome film full of humor and wit. Had a good lesson too. I could watch it every day and not get tired of it! Heck yeah, man!!!!
Great score by Hans Zimmer. The Spider-Pig song was actually done just as a joke, but when Hans showed it to James L. Brooks he said that he wanted it in the movie.
Just wait for the lame "Spider-pig" edition....
I like that promo image, but it really got old.
I wish they would at least include the whole family on the cover.

notice how he takes the donut from the "movie" look at the dust and the pieces and hes got the bite in his mouth already, sneaky mofo. i find the cover interesting.
Bland cover. And maybe for the blu-ray edition they'll have Homer eating a blue donut
Definitely the funniest Simpsons has been in a while. I'll be picking this up.

Ow really? Is that why they call it a very early artwork? WOW, thx for making that clear.

I love the cover. Homer is the best. No one else is needed on the cover.
Homer on the cover all by himself is just weird. Why couldn't they have included all of them? Or at least variety covers?
Hopefully the *final* artwork will offer something of that sort?

Pretty good artwork, but nothing really new from the poster.
Very decent artwork...very, very, very simple...
I liked it, but seeing it once was enough I think.

Lame artwork. The Simpsons is not only about HOMER!
i agree about the spider-pig (not funny the second time), but then i saw the 1st episode of the new season and ta-dah!! he was there with the spider pig song, also the city is still as the movie (just on the new beginning sequence)
One of the best films of the year/ The most fun I had at a Cinema all year....
Stupid story, but brilliant animation. Pleeeease kill the show, Fox.

I think it's a sticker. Don't know about the spine one though.
love the DVD art...thought they would've used one with the whole family though

Get rid of Spider-Pig and you've got a cool enough cover for me. Spider-Pig is just annoying and overrated now. The movie itself was funny. I might buy it.
I seen once,very funny.
The pig is really random lol. I understand that they put it there because that was the audience's favourite part of the movie, but it just looks stupid there.
I love that cover but not as much as the movie, which is one of my favorites of the year
well its not exactly like the movie poster, here the donut is gone except for crumbs...on the movie posters, it was simply missing a piece..
oh wait, just noticed the spine has that version..lol

Wow, that artwork is very....well, lacking. I saw on the cover of the newspaper the day the film came out in theaters the exact same promo image. I am just going to say, by judging from what ive seen, that pretty much every summer blockbuster from this year will get the double dip treatment sooner or later.

This movie rocks man!!!!!!!!!!
I had the best time at the movies when I saw this than in ages. The movie was hilarious and can't wait to see it again, however I might hold out for the inevitable SE
A bit of a dissapointment for me. This should have been a lot better, much like the show was in its early years.
I hate to say to it, I think I laughed more during the "Mr. Plow" episode than did through this entire film.
The 2007 season premiere started off on the right foot with Bart writing on the chalkboard "I will not wait another 20 years to make another movie." & the group family shot on the couch with Homer holding & petting Spider-piggy, intimately whispering , "My Summer love."
Where's "Family Guy: The Motion Picture"? This show has got to be the biggest comeback in T.V. history.

It was okay, but as everyone knows it should have been made about 5 years ago before all the ideas had been used up and everything had become far too familiar.
I will get this one to add to the collection - but it wasn't that great...
Will wait to see if Fox does the usual double dip...

Never saw it but will rent just for the "Spider-Pig" sequence.
If Fox pulls the same s hit what Paramount did with "Zodiac", I think I might hold out for a 2-disc.

stevesoprano, with hefty store and online discounts, the DVD will be 50% less than the SRP price, maybe even more. And it's a single-disc release.
I really enjoyed this movie, im not a huge fan, but i do enjoy watching them on FOX, one question, why almost $30.00, is it adouble disc or just one, that seems kind of high, Steve
Biggest disappointed of the summer, for me. Just didn't find it funny at all. And the pacing was so strange. Great animation though.
I cant wait to get this. I loved it.
I stopped watching the show about 10 seasons ago. Ended up watching the movie because my wife really wanted to, but like others I felt it was just an extended episode.
I'll be spending my money on Season 10 of South Park and the reissue of From Beyond rather than ever touch this one again.

Oddly enough, being a Simpsons fan, haven't catched this one yet...sad...
Wouldn't say it was the best movie/comedy I've ever seen. More like three/four decent Simpsons episodes in one.
No way on par with the likes of Who Shot Mr. Burns, or(insert episode name here)

I laughed so hard.A must see.
elle-driver!! you survived!! i thought the mamba would finish you off!
Yay!
Great movie, enjoyed every minute of it.
A definite buy for me.

I never laughed so hard at the theater ever. This had me laughing during every scene.
Will definitely ask for this for Christmas. I just may buy a few copies and give them as gifts.

I have to agree on two things: that the movie is worth watching once, but not more than that and that it felt like a longer episode. I did have some laughs though and admitadly I haven't seen the series in a long time. Not worth owning for me.

wow....so there's a few more extras then when they announced this a few weeks ago but man....it seems like a pretty bare thing, you'd think considering how packed the tv seasons are and how much money the movie made, we'd get some cool 2 disc edition thats "packed".
unless fox are going back to their "release a c**ppy version and 6 months later release a 2 disc edition" pattern...dun dun dun

I'm not trying to start trouble, and I have all the Simpsons' season DVDs... but what does everyone think was funny about this movie?
Seriously, most of the plot stories had already been done on the show before and the jokes were few and far between...
It was a major letdown for me.

Sweet! Just in time for Christmas. I'll be getting this for sure.
A true comedy gem and must for the collection.
Hopefully they'll release season 11 on the same day...
The movie started out really funny, but slowed down really fast. I might buy it used.
Never really got the appeal of this show. I don't think its as great as some people make it out to be. It has some funny moments yes, but not that great.. Especially recently.
This was simply fantastic. Now they just have to announce Superbad and I'll be good
Best movie of the year.
Hmmmm, seems a little light on special features considering the long lasting legacy of the show and how long it took to make the jump to the big screen. I wish Fox would've given this one the same great treatment they're giving LFODH and FF4:ROTSS. I'm suspicious of a double-dip...
Awww, I really liked this movie. I'll probably pick it up or ask for it for Christmas. I haven't laughed out loud that much in a theater for quite a long time (Especially the Robot that had to defuse the bomb. I've seen the film twice and I cracked up at it both times. It was just so unexpected the first time...).
I really liked this movie, though. It was really sweet, funny and satisfying. And there's one scene that always almost brings me to tears. I dunno why but on both viewings, I still found it heartbreaking.
Great film. Definite rent if you haven't seen it, even worth a blind buy.
Da da da da daaaa da da da da da da daaaa
da da da da daaa DA DA DA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

R1 is becoming really sucky nowadays.
God knows why, but Region 2 is getting all the R1 releases up to 2 weeks before them, and cheaper too!
The Simpsons Movie is under $20 in the UK.

I knew that rumor about a 6.1 DTS track had to have been a rumor.
But still, the features sound fun... until they release the 2-disc Ultra Edition next March.

I didn't think it was funny at all... the few parts I did think were funny, I saw in the previews...
I don't understand this... they NEVER show Homer at work anymore on the show nor in the movie. That's lots of laughs that go uncovered in my opinion.

It was a very funny expanded episode of the TV show, nothing more. But it was a hell of a lot funnier than any of the previous 3 to 4 seasons had been. I will ask this for Christmas.
I loved this. I'll buy it on the first day.
It was good for what it is. Doesn't require a repeat viewing.
I don't need to see this movie again. I like "The Simpsons," but once is enough.
